hey guys
I a 2000 ls v6 with 101 k miles in it. I keep getting a code about the egr flow being insufficient. checked out some forums and found some stuff on the egr. problem is when I drive the car it sound like a vacuum in front of the car. lift the hood and seems like the vacuum noise is coming from the intake. like its taking in too much air then it overheats. I know the pcv valve needs to be done. but I dont think thats causing the overheating and the loud vacuum noise. help me out here please.

yes it does

if you have not changed the elbow for the pcv then it is probably split open, check this by pulling off the pcv vacuum line on the back of the throttle body. it one with the big rubber boot. now if you pull that boot off when the engine is running the car should cough and quit, otherwise if nothing happens then the boot at the other end of the vacuum line is split or the elbow is split. if this area is leaking you will get a code saying lean both banks. look around for leaking vacuum pipes. I have a 01V6, at around 90k miles all the hoses started to crack. The overheating is most likely cracks in the degas bottle which lets air into the cooling system.

ok I tried the above and there are no leaks .also when I pulled the pcv line it did cough and quit. so does that mean the pcv still need to be replaced. also the only code I'm geting is the one for the egr flow insufficient.

please post the actual code

please post the actual code. usually when you develop a leak in the PCV vacuum you get a lean condition both banks code, not an egr code. Do a search on the code in the LS section to see who else had this problem.
