Does anybody know how to disable that damn dinging seatbelt sensor when you dont put on your seatbelt?? Can you just take apart the seatbelt connector and unplug it or something??? I cant take the dinging anymore! lol :steering

i believe the owners manual states how to do it. Or you can take it to the dealer and they can do it for you.

Just wear your seat belt man, or are you too cool for it? j/k I also need to know cause it does get annoying.

i just checked an the steps are in the owners manual. RTFM or are you just too cool for it :) j/k.

I want to disable the key in ignition minder. lord that drives me crazy. ding ding ding ding ding ding aaaaahhhhhhhh!

Wear your belt dude........

I was in my Moms '02 Grand Marquis last month and it went off, and I was like WTF? (MK8's don't have that) But it does serve a purpose

I disable it on race days since I wear my Schroth belts.

I'll I do is click the stock beth together once, and then unclick and leave - it shuts up the 'reminder ding' until I start the car again.

if you mean - to work on your car with the doors open - use a screw driver and flip the lock mechanism in the door so it thinks it's closed.

just remember to pull the door handle to open the lock again before you close the door.

Seat Belt Deactivation/activation Programming Procedure

Seat Belt Deactivation/activation Programming Procedure.

BeltMinder feature One time disable

Any time the safety belt is buckled and then unbuckled during an
ignition ON cycle, BeltMinder will be disabled for that ignition cycle only.

Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature

Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the

The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the
following procedure:

Before following the procedure, make sure that:

² The parking brake is set.
² The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral
position (manual transmission).
² The ignition switch is in the OFF position.
² All vehicle doors are closed.
² The driver’s safety belt is unbuckled.
² The parklamps are in OFF position.

To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt
Minder feature while driving the vehicle.

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE.)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1–2
minutes.)
² Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated.
3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during BeltMinder
warning activation.
4. Turn on the parklamps, turn off the parklamps.
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled.
² After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.
6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off,
buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
² This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently enabled, or enable
BeltMinder if it is currently disabled.
7. Confirmation of disabling BeltMinder is provided by the safety belt
warning light flashing four times per second for three seconds.
8. Confirmation of enabling BeltMinder is provided by:
² The safety belt warning light flashing four times per second for three
seconds.
² Followed by three seconds with the safety belt warning light off.
² Once again, the safety belt warning light will flash four times per
second for three seconds.
9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is
complete.

????????????????????????????????????????????????

didnt someone say they wanted to turn of the seat belt sensor
so im being a seat belt cop dont do just dont do it

keep in mind, you have an airbag in front of your face that you cannot disable (federal safety act) you don't need either one until you need them both, however, the acceleration rate of the bag opening towards your person flying at it will end you...wear your belt please....love ya'... mean it...

Look I never leave a parking space without putting on my belt.
But I hate, to have the warning keep going off, when I'm not moving the car yet (cause the stupid older child forgot his lunch again or somesuch issue). OR if I'm only moving the car in the driveway to move something else, its very annoying.

Like I said, before there are three things I never do.
1 ride my cycle with out helmet, gloves, jacket, boots and long pants.
2 take off without a proper run through the checklist.
3 Drive over the curb and down the street without putting on my seat belt.

so the chime is just a PITA for me

I believe that the air-bag will not deploy if the seatbeat is not engaged. It's all tied to the SRS system, including the position sensor in the driver's sear.

That makes perfect sense Quik. After all, it's called a SUPPLEMENTAL Restraint System.

yes i agree with this guy

yep, quick, you are right... only noticed his post about unplugging it, which, conjured up thoughts of jumpering it or the like... seen it before..then the srs system would activate... over 35 mph of course and yada yada... anyhow, i digress...

If you notice when you start the car the little red seatbelt light stays solid for about 30 seconds. Just plug in your seatbelt and unplug it. The light stays off and the chime stays off. Its that easy. That chime is there to remind us all (including me) that we are idiots for not wearing it. So if you dont want to take the awful step of wearing it, make it routine to plug and unplug it when you start the car.
