We removed the plenum and the valve covers. Cleaned and then reinstalled.

Hanging on a hose from the plenum was the pcv. I replaced the pcv, but cannot determine where on the engine where the valve plugs in.

According to my Haynes manual, chapter and page 1-21, states its on the valve cover, but nowhere on either valve cover on my car is there a hole or slot for the valve.

Can anyone tell me where I plug the pcv?

Is Haynes manual reliable?

Is it possible I have a Frankenstein Lincoln?

I'm so flippen frustrated I'm ready to junk my stinkin' Lincoln.

Not once have I been able to match the photographs in the Haynes manual with what is under my hood. Worse, the description doesn't always match either.

Yet, every single part under my hood is oem.

What gives?

It is now 9:40 p.m. on Sunday and I have been working on this beast since yesterday morning. I replaced the spark plugs, rotor, cap, and cleaned the plenum and valve covers, from the massive gunky baked on grease.

But I've been stalled on the pcv since yesterday. I've been going over that car with a fine tooth comb. I had thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed those covers and there is absolutely nowhere on them any openings, other than a tall funnel for the oil in take.

HELP!!!!

PCV is at the back of the engine, closer to the passenger strut tower, under the upper intake manifold. You'll have to feel around. It's in a tough spot. There is also a PCV screen that sits under the PCV. Using a 3" drywall screw securely taped to a screwdriver, screw into the mesh screen and carefully pull it out. Clean and reinstall or leave it out (it's there for new car emissions and serves little purpose).

The Haynes manual is worthless for the VII and Fox Continental. You should look to pick up a Ford manual off eBay or buy a new one from Helms, the original publisher. They're worth every penny.

What Nick said. First, get a Factory Service Manual from Ford. Second, use the Hayne's manual as a fire starter. Third, the PCV valve goes into the back of the lower intake manifold, under the plenum and tightly next to the firewall.

P.S. - Don't burn the other manual. It does come in handy from time to time for pictures.

Gentlemen, thank you so very much.

You have saved my baby from a one-way ticket to the junkyard.
