Sensor location

On a 2000 Lincoln LS, where is the “Engine Coolant Temperature” sensor” located? Not the “Cylinder Head Temperature” sensor.

V8 or V6?
Doesn't matter. It's almost certainly that it really is overheating, and not a sensor problem. The way the gauge works can make you think that it is a bad sensor (because it can very quickly go from "H" back down to the mid point if you stop the engine and restart.)
