Today was kinda weird....I got the day off, i do my laundry...it's 1pm...and i'm on cars.com and autotrader just checking cars out. I find this.........

Now i get there, and i already got my best friend to lend me several thousand$$ to buy this straight up. I test drove it, with the car salesman in the passenger seat, and he's talking about the financing etc how he can get me approved etc etc. I let him know that I wasn't going to finance, and I wanted to buy in FULL with CASH!!!

I started with $15,000 everything included. He laughed, then i told him to get his Manager. His manager came over and he was a real prick lol, he said that it was one of a kind....lol. I let him know that the car had 40+k on the clock and i made up that the clutch was slipping/worn hahahaha (it felt brand new) and that the steering was subpar...it felt MINT hahahaha.

They took off for a minute.

They come back, and say that the car cannot be bought in cash, it has to be FINANCED!!!???!!?!?!?!?!?

I was like WTF?.....Why?? They said some BS like they lost money on the trade in, and they HAVE to get someone to finance the car so they can make some kind of $$$ on it.

Now this is where I got really pissed off, i told them i will give them 16K for it, and they still didn't budge, they didn't even try to negotiate and said SORRY!!!!

WTF??

PS i thought i hated this bodystyle until i drove it, it's more roomier then the 99-2004 etc, and feels really good, everything. I love Yellow with Black, i'm a sucker for it lol. I just can't believe he didn't want to negotiate at all lol. Driving it felt like my 1996 LSC had 4.30 gears, with 5 speed, and was 200lbs lighter lol....

Yeah it felt great plus i love the shifter it was SO MUCH shorter than the 2003 i drove.

Assuming you had the cash in hand to buy the car, what you could have done is finance the car like they asked, and then once all the paperwork was done and you had the keys, ask what the payoff is and pay it off right there. And then laughed all the way home.

I do know that dealerships would rather you finance a vehicle so they can get their kickback from the bank or finance company.

im not sure how tax works and all the fees assoc with the purchase of a car up there but sales tax @ 8 % of 15k is 1200.. That woulda left them at 13800 not includeing added fee's. If you did get it at said price it wouldve been a steal.

Yellow is a bit fugly.. especially with the stripes... IMHO There are some nice ones ive seen on corral for as low as 13k. There is also a local red 05 near me for 15 with 20k miles on it.
