Howdy all,

If the AdvanceTrac light wasn't odd enough, today I get 'Service Parking Brake' on the message center on my '03...

Is it just time for pads and a general teardown of the brake system?

I wouldn't have expected the pads to be gone at just 27,000 miles. ...then again, this thing sat in the PO's garage for a lot of years.

Thanks!

Check the battery first.

This vehicle has a lot of sensors and a very complicated electrical system. A weak battery can cause weird errors and even the windows the roll down on their own.

What year car? And also, are you related to Hercule?

That message is not tripped by worn pad issues. It is tripped by a weak battery, broken plastic fittings at the ends of the parking brake cables, faults internal to the parking brake module (mechanical or electrical) or certain other general car faults, disconnecting the battery, and so on.

Usually, it will reset after a driving cycle if you use the parking brake every time you park.

I get this message often, I also use my park brake every time I park. Also - even if the message comes on, the brake still works as if there was no problem.

No big deal

Same here, I recently got a new battery and it hasn't been doing it that much anymore.

I got the message once before about 4 months ago after i had just got the car tinted and i went into d4 coming out of the garage.
