Well, it was an honest mistake actually. I wasn't trying to show off or be a badass, I was in Kansas on my way back from a wedding and was doing 72 in a 65. I had cruise control on. I didn't see the speed zone signs so I didn't know it changed. I look over and see houses and parked cars and think "oh crap! I'm in a town!" Then I looked up, saw a 30MPH sign, looked over, saw a cop, slammed the brakes, got down to 30, but he saw me first.

Here's the cool part... I pled my case to the county attorney. Told him it was a mistake. Told him that I wasn't asking to be let off the hook entirely cause I did screw up, but asked that it be reduced, cause Iowa law says if you get pulled over for anything over 25 above, whether it be in Iowa or not, you automatically lose your licence. So here's what he did. The original ticket was for $380. They didn't change that, but ammended my 72 in a 30 as a non-moving violation! How could they make 42 over a non-moving? Well, they said I had defective headlamps! :wrench

I got off the hook! Well, sorta, I still had to pay the $380. Anyway, that is why I don't speed anymore and that is why the Taurus is called "The Silver Bullet"

No, not lucky... blessed.

Yeah, that $380 stung a bit, but you got to understand that I was gonna lose my license, have to go on SR22, and probably have to live with an extra $200 some a month in expenses for at least a couple years, and, it would lock me out of any job with driving, if I ever found myself looking for work. When I got the news that I would escape all of that, well then the $380 suddenly felt more like $38.

It's kinda like a mother telling her son to clean his room. He's gonna hate it, but convince him that he has to clean the whole house, really convince him, then tell him that he only has to clean his room, well, then he's happy to clean his room... well this was kinda like that.
