Shifter

Can anyone give me info on how to remove the shifter? I disconected the electrical, but I can't seem to get it out. How is this done?

There has to be a catch to gently prying it off. What is it? I see there is a small slit in the front of the shifter. What is that for?

There is a u- clip inside that. Get a hook tool, and pull it out. The handle will pull of. There is a small wire running up that shaft, so be careful when you pul it off.

You can use a flat head screwdriver as well and just pry it out. Don't yank up on the stick, though, as 94m5 said. Be gentle.

whatcha doin GMAN? puttin an aftermarket shifter, or just replacin what you got?

I took out the gray shifter, and put in a black one with the chrome button.

Thanks, I got it out using needle nose pliers. After that it just slid right off.
