Short shifter on a 5 Speed LS?

Wondering if anyone has built fabricated or found a short shifter that would work on 5 speed MTX LS? Was at the junk yard this weekend and pulled a shifter out of a '02 Passat that I thought would work, but the ball joint in it is too large. Thought I would build on others knowledge rather than recreate the wheel with this.
