Should convicted felons, currently serving their sentences, be given the right to vote in federal elections?

And this is a different question than should convicts who have been released have their civil liberties restored. I'm asking if those who are still fufilling their sentences, many of which are incarcerated still, should be allowed to vote.

No Way

I am of the opinion, that once a person is convicted of a felony or major misdemeanor, that while they are serving their sentence, all rights should be stripped from them. The sheer fact that they chose to ignore society's rules in my opinion means that they should not be allowed to participate in society's benefits. And I do consider voting to be a benefit.

No, not while they are serving their sentences. But once sentence is completed, theyve paid their debt to society and should have their rights restored.

Exactly. Actually, under the law, your sentence isnt completed until parole is completed. Parole is an early release, not a sentence reduction.

However, This does pose the question, what about people on probation and other forms of sentence that are non confinement?

Probation does mean that a person has been convicted of a crime, to a lesser degree and they should be allowed to vote, as for other forms of sentencing that do not require being confined, it would depend on the severity of the crime, as to whether they would lose the right to vote!!!!
