About 50% of the time I try to shut down my computer I get a "program not responding" and I have to end it now. The program is "ccSvcHst" this just started about a month ago. When it does this, it takes about 5 minutes for my system to fully shut down. It is getting annoying, does anybody know what this is or how to fix it? I have tried every kind of scan and fix tool that I know of. Repaired windows files, cleaned registry, cleared restore points, defrag, ran full Norton scan. Nothing seems to work. I keep my hard drive very clean and free of clutter and bloatware. I have no clue what triggered this error.
- Windows XP Pro w/all updates
- Norton 360 w/all updates
Here is my hardware
- Motherboard - Chipset Intel i945P Dell Inc. 0FJ030
- Pentium D 3.2 GHz W/2 cores
Can anyone help me out?

2 posts, 2 errors w/ your pc. Haha jk

ccSvcHst is a part of Norton, and many of the customers who bring in their pcs for repair w/ norton have this issue at some point. Its easier to just uninstall/reinstall n360, as norton has no "fix" for the problem.

What ever you do, don't download any "scan and fix" registry editors or "clean up" programs.

You're running xp w/ norton 360? I hope you have at least 1 gb of ram, preferably 2.

At the end of the day, 7 out of every pcs we fix at my store are dells.

8 out of every 10 hardware based problems are dell as well

Just a little insight, we have 15 computers on display, 4 dells. Of those 4, 3 have booted with the blue screen of death (mind you these pcs aren't on the internet and no programs are installed). People say thats just windows vista, but we sell compaqs hps acers toshibas and have no other problems with anything, haha
