HI All,

I searched the threads for this answer, couldn't find one. One of my Silverstars went out on the low beam and I replaced it with the stock. (now one white and one yellow headlight)

Before I run out and buy another Silverstar, I'd like to know if there was anything better than that. I know your all more knowledgeable than I. I knwo the silverstar puts out 4500 is there anything higher output without a complete replacement to HID? Thanks

your best option would just to go onto ebay and buy the hid conversion kit i know it is expensive to start but it is the best option if your in that situation upgrade completely dont just keep putting it off

I use HiLite's that i got off ebay which I have been happy with, just stay with the lower watts to get the blue tint. Others here use Hoen's u can get them at LSKoncepts.com, from the comments on here they both seem to be a better and cheaper choice then silverstars. *I have not used silverstars.

Will I have to buy the upgrade connetors with the ones on LSKonsepts?

Only if you get the Xenonmatch Plus bulbs. The Plus bulbs operate at a higher wattage than the non-Plus bulbs. The higher wattage Plus bulbs may melt the OEM connector plug. The non-Plus bulbs don't have this issue since they operate at the standard wattage. The non-Plus bulbs are still brighter than the Silverstars.

Thanks Ken,

I'm sure glad I have friends like you to look out for me. Question, If I do purchase the Plus bulbs, will they melt the plastic Headlight housing? And what is the shipping time on the products? In stock?

They will not melt the housing because they don't burn that hot. It's just the plug you should be concerned with. As for shipping if ordered today they will go out the next day. I have all combinations in stock. The get shipped USPS Priority Mail.

Ok, I'm sold, I would have to buy the whole kit and kaboddle. So 4 bulbs and 4 connectors, and the fogs.

Well, Lets just say, part of the kit and no kaboddle. I added up the price and have to say I'm short on funds. I'll have to order just the lows and connectors for now. The Silverstar highs are still working, so I'll wait til one blows before replaceing the whole lot of them.

Thanks Ken, BTW have the brows gone out yet? Thanks Bud.:D
I got them back from the painter and they were not to my standards. I'm having him repaint them. I don't know when they'll be back since he is having knee surgery this week. All painting will be delayed about 7-10 days.

Ya know, I had posted serveral times in the past to try to get a difinitive answer to the best bulb out there an never got a real response. I have seen these also and didn't want to waste money on something I didn't know beans about.
With the Hoen's there is a 1 year warranty on the regular Xenonmatch bulbs and 6 month warranty on the Xenonmatch Plus bulbs. You can read about their warranty here:

those bulbs on ebay are like the typical trash you find at pep boys. they burn out after a few weeks. actually, installed a set in my previous car burned out in a few days and it kept happening.

for the LS I bought Hoen lights thru Ken (LSK) and i couldnt be happier. i compared the stock on one side to the hoens its almost a night/day difference i couldnt believe it. i highly recommend hoen but nothing beats HID

I use a farenhiet brand I buy from a local cutom shop, I use them for all my lights (high, low, fogs). They put out the same light as the mercedes and other High end cars do. I just bought replacements for 2 sets for $30. Although they dont need to be changed yet. I have had them in for almost 2 years now.

Appearance wise, those bulbs look good. The light output is much better than stock in my opinion, but they don't last long. I've had three sets (2 lows and 1 fog) and none of them lasted over two months. I currently use Eurolite Fusion and I am very happy with them. I ordered hid's this morning so they will be replaced by Thursday.:D

DO NOT BUY THOSE POS EBAY BULBS!!!!...... i've bought many of those "hyper white" bulbs and they burn out in less that 2 weeks.. I've bought so many that I could of had HID's by now.., anyways, I bought the Hoens from ken and im very satisfied with them, I've had them on for about 6 months now and no problems!

I've had the Hoens now for almost a year and no problems (knock on wood) and I really think they look so much better than stock.. Quick question, would anyone reccomend me changing these out and doing the HID conversion on my 02? Will the difference (both for me and for people coming towards me) be that noticeable?

I had the Hoen's in my car before going with the HID conversion. After switching there is no comparison. Don't get me wrong, the Hoen bulbs are far better than the stock bulbs but HID is simply better than halogen bulbs. If you can afford to switch to HID I'd recommend it. Once you have HID's you'll never go back to halogen again.

Ken, received my Hoen's today. Thanks! I installed after going to Autozone for crimp/heat shrink connectors. Wow! What a difference in white light (not actually brighter than Silverstar just whiter though) Now the Heon makes the other high brights and fogs Silverstars look like stock bulbs (kind of yellowish).

my rating:

1) stock
5) Silverstar
10) Heon Xeonmatch

I'll be ordering the rest of the kaboddle in the near future. Thanks for all your help!:D
