Im sure no one has experience with stuff like this on the LS but what do some of you more all around experienced guys think about sets like this?

http://jdmultimate.com/Store/Product/ItmItem.aspx?ItemId=217663&Make=UNIVERSAL

They claim to be Universal, cover a long list of vehicles and sates they cover even more but yet all I see are people using just lowering springs on the LS.

Is there possibilities something like this may work and fit over our shocks? I have read else where that they can come with various spring rates. I have read on other non LS forums that people use them with factory springs or aftermarket springs designed for the car and they work out great. That leads me to one concern, what are your opinions on setups like this fitting over our shocks?

Skunk 2 is a good company in the tuner world so I'm somewhat boggled by the lower than ebay price this specific site has to offer:confused:

What they are showing is a partial spring kit that can be used, along with other parts, to build a coil-over suspension system. What they're offering doesn't have a price showing, but usually sells for $150-$200. You'll also need shocks that fit inside the threaded tubes, and whatever it takes to fit the shocks to the car. That sort of set-up is quite pricey.

They claim to fit over stock shocks. Other people that used them claimed the same.

With over 10 years of experience in spring technology and suspension, the race inspired Skunk2 Adjustable Coilover system design provides an affordable yet aggressive system that allows you to tune the balance and handling performance of your car by adjusting its ride height. Whether your vehicle is set up for street driving, or weekend track days, the Skunk2 Adjustable Coilover kit is the solution. Designed to be used with stock or aftermarket shocks, Skunk2 Adjustable Coilovers enable you to upgrade your shocks and springs in separate stages. Each coilover kit features hardanodized CNC-machined aluminum sleeves, forged spring perches, SAE 9254V racing springs, and mounting hardware that allows up to a 3-inch drop (sometimes more). When applicable, we recommend using Skunk2 Adjustable Coilovers in combination with Skunk2 Sport Shocks for the ultimate bang for the buck.

But now that Im looking into this its Bull Sh*T as far as that price goes.

That price despite what the description and everything else claims is just for the damn tool.

I can still find these dirt cheap and like I said, from what I hear they can be used with stock shocks. I just dont know if they fit over ours.

I had a set of Skunk2's like that on a Honda Prelude one time. It rode very good with them and would go crazy low. On mine the sleeves were larger in diameter than the shock tubes but you use those o-rings pictured and those fill the gap. I would also like to know how well they would work on an ls.

Yup, the o ring part is what I have just figured out but now I'm not thinking it will work with the rear assembly.

your just coming off as stupid..............

boats and hoes

go for it 6 bucks lo that pretty cheap for skunk2, my skunk2 coilover kit for my old civic was 500 but they cam with shocks but i did many civic with just the coilover on stock shocks all you need to do is but some ''O" rings on the shock then slide the coilover on to it so its nice and snag

The bastards on that site are deceiving pricks. Its just the tool for that cost. I expected something like that anyway. But I found a set. This one has a ruler on the sleeves and someone told me the springs was enough to support a 4,000 lb wagon so it should work fine with a 3,700 something pound LS.

Someone told me to just layer some electrical tape if it comes down to it and lube it up with petroleum jelly so it slides over without bunching up the tape

The electrical tape works well. I have done that and sprayed the shock body down with hairspray, slide the sleeve on with the hairspray wet and once it dries they won't move at all.

Well I know everyone says to get new shocks but its not just new shocks but better aftermarket shocks that you need and I dont know of any for our car. Mine are fairly new and are the sports. Im gunna cut down the bump stop one level.

I wonder how lonh the sports will last, im sure they are better than non sport. My shocks need to be replaced very soon, 77k on them. When its cold they creak when i hit bumps. Trying to decide whether to do some eibachs and better shocks when the time comes.

Sounds more like the stabilizer bar bushings. Shocks shouldn't creak. There's nothing there to creak. Shocks will leak fluid when they fail.
