Who gots 'em?

I used to love 'em when I was a kid!

We go to a flea market every other weekend or so and they have a RC/slot car shop with a huge track to rent out a slot and car for 2$/15 minutes. You can bring your own if you like and its pretty cool. Its the larger scale so I think Im gunna go out and get some cool models and slot car chassis to make my own cars to bring:cool:

The kids take turns on my lap and go nuts when its time to leave, we have to drag them out literally as they toss a fit:lol:

So, for Christmas I wanted to get a train for the tree, then I said how cool would it be to build my own track instead? Went out looking for my own kit or pieces to make my own and god damn did they go up in price since I was a kid! Well that bombed out on me:(

Then today we went to a thrift store just for the hell of it and wouldn't you know they had a brand new SCX kit for 10$!!!! Its one of those sold at Target only deals but it is a great set especially for a 1 and 2 year old:lol:

Got the super touring AMG Mercedes and Audi with the kits. Next is a pair of F1's.

Anyway I think Im going to start modeling some scenery with them and well I was just wondering if anyone else here is in on the hobby.

I know some of you guys have to be!

No one? I thought for sure some of the older guys would have something.

Im hooked again. My father in law is going out to Lowes for some things to build a table and we might build our own tracks to run on out of wood. From what I have been reading its pretty simple to build a track almost from scratch as long as you have the right tools for cutting the slot and the grooves for the rails and all.

As soon as I get back from AC NJ were gunna dive on the project.

My brother bought a home built HO scale track that is 4 lane. It's on a 4x16 table and curves in and out and on top of each other. Anytime he has any kind of gathering that is where all the guys are.

That sounds cool! Thats how the large scale track is at that flea market I explained.

Does he have head light/tail light retro fits in any of his cars?

It looks pretty bad ass!:D

I used to race the dragsters and the ones you are talking about. It was a really fun thing to do for kids. I still have the cars around here somewhere. Wish i had a track built at my house like you are planing on doing.

Hey, if your selling anything shoot me a PM. Im looking for anything I can find. Im even going out and getting some 15$ good year blimp to hang over the track:D

This tracks pretty freggin cool! But the commentator reminds me of Mr. Rogers!

i will let u know if i can find them its been so long i dont remember where i put them. But good luck with the build.

I got a complete Lionel train kit, well i guess it's a kit. It was my dads when he was a kid, 2 steel locomotives that take smoke pellets in the smole stacks and a bunch of rail cars and town/train station scenes. I havn't used it in 10 years or so. Its all packed up and put away.

Well the train kits that blow smoke are pretty freakin cool also.

I remember some place in PA I used to go to when I was a kid that had all kinds of slot car and HO train stuff along with model villages to go along with every train and race track.

It was like Road Side America or something.

The tables made, the track is planed out and we started laying it. Im still coming up with ides but I guess he started cutting the slots on some of the tracks and screwed up the width of the slots like a ass. Made' em to big so now I have to get all new pieces of wood for the tracks. I plan on making a nice one so we are taking our time. I really want to make a running water fall with a stream leading to a lake by using half cut PVC as the stream bed and a shallow stearlite tub for the lake. I wanna drill a hole in the tub with a bulk head connected to hose running into a sump for a aquarium and then back to the waterfall with the return so its gunna take a long time. Thats if I have the balls and patience. The most expensive part is going to be the control and power supply unit. That I cant make.
