Recently my gas mileage has been bad, like horrible bad, like 11- 12.5 average mpg! so I decided to check out autozone for a new air filter. While im there i pick up a cone filter instead of the stock flat one without even thinking, and now im stuck...

so is it just as easy as taking out the maf, hooking one end to the filter and the other to the intake tube?

also the Maf will not fit the stock intake tube, where can i buy an adapter?

thanx

I made a custom cone filter adapter with some rubber tubing from the hardware store. It looked great, and sounded even better, but I kept getting the check engine light, so i ended up going back to the stock housing, and replacing my stock filter w\ a k&n.

i have a cone filter what i did was put the maf sensor and used the 4 bolt holes and screwed it into the cone filter then i put the maf into the stock rubber tube and clamped it down. works great in fact its about time for a new one.

I did the same thing, and couldnt get rid of the CE light.

I just put a 9 inch K&N conical on my 98 LSC, used a Fernco rubber piece for the mass air housing to intake tube connection. No problems, runs great...

Could someone take a picture or draw a diagram of what you did to make this work. Or a more descriptive explanation. What filter and what exact pieces and how they went together?

I would surly appreciate it.

All you need to do is remove the air box competely and then you need two adapters to make the conical work. The mass air housing connection to the conical (pro-m 80mm adapter, plastic or billet piece, buy online) and a Fernco rubber piece which you can buy at the Home Depot. The 3 inch one, looks like a smooth Bellow. Also, you will need at least two bolts for the mass air housing because stock Gen 2's only come with 2 and it's connected to the airbox so that's all it needs. Once you relocate the mass air, 2 bolts are not enough.

Thanks, where do I find the mass air adaptor? I did a search on-line and nothing came up. Have you been able to tell a big difference with that set-up?

You don't gain enough horsepower to notice much but it's a mod I would do again, very simple. I'm not sure where you can get the adapter online I got mine a long time ago. Maybe Geno at Lincolnmotorsport has some to sell?
