So I was thinking about buying a cadillac, Years 1998+ models Seville/STS. I was wondering what are the differences in Seville/STS. I've noticed some of the Sevilles come with rag top so Im guessing that the seville is a more luxurious version of the STS, but is their any other differences? less horse power, etc?

Also I've been looking on autotrader and I've figured they're not very expensive for price range of $5,500 - $8,500. I could find a nice 1998+ seville/sts with roughly 70,000 miles on it. Does this seem right? I'm not a big fan of using the internet to search for car prices.

I don't exactly have all of the money right now. I've got about $3,000 saved towards the car plus I have a 1993 lincoln mark 8 and I know some places will take trade ins for down payments or w.e. I just fixed it up and its pretty good condition now, but Im l ooking into getting something a little newer and trying to explore Cadillacs. Any information, like maybe what the monthly payments would be, how much i'd proobably end up spending etc. Thank you :)

I have a seville SLS too, it also has a ragtop and a continental kit. I also know this car new in 99 was about $45000. I paid about 14,000 in cash in 95 and it had only 24,375 miles on it when I bought it. There is a difference in motors though. The SLS has a 275 and STS 300 hp engine. My car has almost 57,000 miles on it and has ran pretty good the first 18 months or so except for a cooling problem. I was driving it in the deserts last summer so that was a little hard on it I'm sure. It's now getting fixed for a starting problem. I replaced the starter and fuse box under the hood for a total of about $800 parts and labor but, I still have that same problem or issue and its' in the garage right now. The garage said they would get to the bottom of this problem and not charge me for the bill which I hope they actually do because like I said I spent about $800 already to solve this starting problem. Every thing else seems to be ok but, I already know the original struts probably won't last more than 2 more years and those struts can be expensive through Cadillac but, I'm thinking about doing Arnott after market struts if and when I do that?

This is my advice. That probably isn't too bad of a price for that car. Especially, around the $5,000 range but, you might actually find one cheaper if you look around.
I honestly wouldn't want to really make payments on that car especially high payments for any real period of time. Due to the fact that when it breaks down its going to be expensive to fix unless it a minor problem. If you are getting it can you get some kind of extended warrenty for this car and for how long and how much? If its reasonible I would probably get a warrenty one thing I should of done when I got my car but I didn't. When these cars have issues and you must supposedly take it to a specialist you will be shocked at the prices.

My car is a good driver and the horse power is real good and believe it or not it gets great gas mileage for a caddy. Mine gets consistantly 25-27 or a little more on the road depending how I drive it. Just don't hit the pedal lots or it will go down your mpg quite a bit. In town it gets about 15-16.

Make sure this car was well maintenced and taken car of especially the engine, cooling system, transmission and other parts of the car.
