So here are some pictures of my 2004 LS V8 with 209k miles. I am the second owner (first were my parents) so I know all it's secrets. Very well cared for with all the usual fixes, coils, plugs, DCCV, degas, radiator, DCCV again, etc.

I had to fix the harmonic balancer so it also has a new belt and tensioner. The sway bar bushings creak and I have the ES black bushings and collars (already installed) and will be tackling the bushing surgery soon.

I do have some questions that answers aren't totally clear based upon hours of combing through the forum:

1) Suspension: I'll probably have to do shocks at some point in the near future. I'd like to get back to something stiffer than a "normal Lincoln" but not something that will rattle my fillings. I've read the Bilstein S-type (B4 or B6) and other threads a couple of times and am still unclear as if there are other options out there that won't break the bank. Would getting some low mileage ones off a Lincoln at a "pick your part" be even worth the effort? There is one relatively near me with 2-2006s and 2000.
2) are there front break upgrades that will work with stock 17" wheels? I can use the Jag S-Type R on the rear, if I understood that thread correctly. Not really planning on changing wheels, but maybe....
3) transmission has, on 2-3 occasions recently, taken its time shifting back to low gear at a signal. It doesn't slip driving along. Also, sometimes clunkyngoing into reverse. Could this be a low fluid issue? The tranny was recently flushed and serviced, within 6-8 months.
And finally,
4) any of you guys in SoCal? I am in Ventura county.

Here are a couple of pictures....

Has the car ever had any work done on the transmission other than change fluid/filter in it's 209k miles?

I don't see anything in the file, so, the solenoid might be a possible need in the future, no?

If nothing has ever been done after 209k miles, you've been luckier than a lot of us. Sounds like it's time to get it looked at before it gets worse.
