I was checking the plugs in my 97 and at least 2 of the little boots that insulate the wire going down through the head are ripped. I checked the local parts store and the price was outrageous for replacements. Is there anywhere online that sells them cheaper? Also, my valve cover gaskets are leaking oil into the spark plug holes, could the oil have broken down the rubber more quickly?

that's probably because they were giving you the cost of the boot with the coil

Yo Dern... depending on how bad they are... You can get some "Good" Electrical tape... And I stress "Good", not the crap at K-Mart.... And you can wrap the entire boot with a few laps of that tape and they will perform like new!
But if you can swing it and they're in bad shape its best to replace. All depends on cash situation.... :Beer

Part of the problem is that my damn valve cover gasket is leaking oil into the spark plug holes so I bet my electrical tape may have fallen off.
