I swapped out my spark plugs in my 300M to the bosch platinum +4 and they seemed to make a difference.

Is there any benefit to swapping out the plugs in the LS.

I have a 2002 V8, SST swap, Magnaflow, XCAL 2, and a CAI.
Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

What brand and type should I go with.

in ford products, motorcraft seem the be the best. autolite is a close 2nd choice(more or less same plug). i've heard a lot of bad stories w/the +4's on ford's.

new plugs make the difference - there is very very little proof that one design is better than another. most of the racing teams are still using the basic copper plug from champion.

Words of wisdom. Believe me, if you felt a difference with new plugs, you're old ones were pretty bad...and just about any new plug that was correct for the application would have given you the same effect.

Yeah new plugs make the difference. Then the question becomes how well does each brand stand up?

I have not had good experience with Bosch plugs in other vehicles. I prefer Champions, AC DElco, Autolites and NGK and the occasional Nippon Denso.

I prefer plugs that have a shiney chrome like appearance since they seem less likely to sieze in the head. With the LS siezing could be an issue due to the aluminum. I would recommend using antisieze and changing or checking plugs more often than I think the manual says 100K. Other aluminum heads will pretty much weld the plug in place due to metal to metal incompatibilities(Corrosion) and then you got a big problem, I would not be surprised if the LS had the smae problem.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

good rule:
Autolites = Ford
AC Delco = GM
Champion = Chrylser
NGK = Ricers
Just about all of these manufacturers offer platinum or iridum plugs. I like iridum because they don't foul as easy, but that is in my 2-stroke 4-wheeler. As far as the LS, I'd say stick with factory motorcraft or autolite plugs.
Sorry I just don't like bosch. I ran them once in my mustang for about two days and they were burnt out. Went with autolites and have never had another problem. Also Bosch used to be prone to the platinum tips breaking off into your cylinders.

IIRC, NGK OEM'd the plugs for the 3.0 SHO V6. I don't think you could buy them with the NGK brand, though (Motorcraft only).

My past experience with Bosch plugs has been that they're junk. I've had good luck with Autolites, but in my hi-po Fords, I stick with Motorcraft.

My T-Bird SC had 75K miles on it when I changed the original plugs (Motorcraft double platinums). When I showed them to friends who've all worked on cars all their lives, none of them could believe that the plugs had that many miles on them. The gaps were perfect, the color was excellent, and there was no visible erosion of either electrode. If it hadn't been such an absolute bear getting them out, I'd've put them back...

I'm pretty sure my v8 had motocrafts in there that had ngk logo too....

Motorcraft with NGK logo probably did happen. Alot of time one manufacture will buy plugs from another to save money. I know that Champion makes a lot of the motorcraft and AC plugs in trucks

:D :Beer :Beer motorcraft only!! That should be some kind of law!! ngk is a joke if you ask me !!
