As this has nothing to do with my Mark I thought I would post it here.
I have a 1999 Grand Prix GTP that is really the wifes car and I have done quite a bit to get it to be a reliable daily driver. When I got the car it did not run due to many things but it did come down to it needed a general tune up as all plugs and wire were original to the car.
I signed up to a local forum for these cars and found one of the Moderators was a retired GM technical services technician. He worked out of the head office and when a dealer could not figure out the car this is the guy they brought in. After contacting him and many calls on the phone I went over to his house to get a few things. One of the items I did buy was a new set of spark plugs that I had never heard of, Brisk. These are almost a Rim Fire plug. They have four side electrodes but do not come over the centre electrode.
Now I know everyone says rim fires suck but I have to say, these plugs made a huge difference with this car. I can barely get my hand off the ignition key when starting it. It is almost an instantaneous start and the throttle response is crisp and clean. I can only atest to what I have experienced with the 3800 SC motor but they are a good plug from what I can tell.
I am going to put a set of Motorcraft plugs in my Mark and run them for a bit and then I am going to try a set of these Brisk plugs in it after a while just for a comparison. I will let you know.
FYI, I am not doing this for any type of performace improvement but in that case they do have testimonials from some high horse power motors and they say all the same things and you do not have to index the plugs. I am thinking with the center installation of the Marks plugs that this kind of design would make a difference as there is no electrode shielding.
Talk to you all soon.
