Spring Coil Conversion Kit

My drivers side front airbag seems to have a leak in it, usually colder days left over night i'd leave to go to work in the am and come out to it lowered and sagged in the front, as soon as i start the car after about 30 seconds it pumps up again. Only happens when it sits over night, i also believe its causing my car to sit unlevel. I noticed it sitting unlevel to the left when driving and looking at it from the rear and front.

Thinking of just purchasing the spring coil conversion kit from SCP

you can pick up like new conversion kits in the 150 dollar range..

For 400 bucks plus shipping i'd run vogtland gummy grips instead ;)

Keep your air and buy an air shock for the leaking side. It's an easy fix, yes it's kinda high. You can get the side you need, shipped to the door for $378 and it is the Gen 2 air shock, not the steel sucky Gen 1 air shock. I had the same exact problem and just fixed it last week with a new one.

Ok need a little help. I have an airbag leak for 400$ I could get a brand new front a rear spring coil conversion or pay 378$ and just fix my leaking airbag. Any suggestions. Im thinking replacing it with spring coil just do I don't have to worry about any others leaking.

Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to this subject. Some of us WILL NOT get rid of our air and some will because they look at the price of the parts. Just remember, a new Motorcraft air shock should be good for at least 10 years or more. Juss sayin. I know it's a lot of money but once replaced, the worries of it leaking again anytime soon are gone. My drivers side hasn't started leaking at all yet but they both came off the same Gen II and I'm sure it's days are numbered. I'm going ahead and ordering the other one and then I'm done with it. Already have an extra set of rears if anything were to happen back there.

Question is, do you want "AIR RIDE" or do you want a different ride? I have driven a Mark with a basic conversion and it's just not the same. Now, with expensive shocks and springs, the ride might be ok. I can't speak on that.

BTW, the drivers side is a little cheaper. You would be looking at around $369 to the door for that side.

Wonder why they're different prices? They're basically the same shocks with different locations for the solenoid. Wierd.

I'm one of those who WILL NOT give up my air ride. Right now I have Arnott air shocks on the front and so far they're doing fine with over a year on the p/s and about 6 months on the d/s after warranty replacement. Unfortunately, Arnott doesn't carry the Mark VIII front air shocks anymore. So if they ever go bad (which they will eventually), I'll have to go with OEM. And they're expensive. The car may have to sit while I save up for them:) But no matter what, I will never put coil-overs on my Mark. The air ride is what makes the Mark special. If you go coil-over all you've got is a T-Bird in a tux.
 
Get strutmasters on ebay at around $200 and call it aday.
I haven't had issues with them yet just alittle bouncy but thats IT! and so far its been almost a year and you dont have to deal with the bull:q:q:q:q leaky airride or headaches, oh i almost forgot a big hole in your wallet just speaking from experience.
 
I also went with a Strutmasters kit that I found on eBay. It was an open box kit, but everything was still intact, and fine. I got new rear shocks too, so it was a complete suspension conversion. I've had no issues with is this far. My only complaint is the fronts are a little spongy, and the shocks that came in my kit were Gabriel G-Force shocks. So spongy up front, and nice and tight in the rear. But, it is what it is.
 
Just to give you an idea. It will cost you approximately $800 in parts for a performance-minded coil conversion like I will be doing. That's about what it has costed me with the shocks, coils, and various perches, isolators and mounts needed to do the conversion. From what I have heard, the strutmasters conversion kit rides like poop. That's the only thing that would keep me on air, but I have found that there is better options out there for a coil conversion setup.
 
I heard Monroe 90002 was good and had sensatrac shocks, it also comes with rear shocks also. I've heard good reviews on that type too.
 
I think what I'll do is check all the other sides of the airbags see if there's any leaking or rips, if alls in good shape I'll buy a front driver side airbag and keep the air ride. The only problem is will that fix my car leaning more to the left?

It will most likely help but that is probably just your height sensor needing some adjustment. Park on a level surface, measure from the concrete up to the bottom of the fender well on both sides and let us know what that measurement is. Shut the car off and let it vent down and measure. Should be between 27 1/2" to 28" but both sides need to be the same height.

Mine is sensor lowered and vents down to around 27 1/4" on both sides in the front and the rear is almost dead on with the front. Until you get a new bag for the front, I would raise it a tad higher in the front to get it up off the cracks. Lower the front sensors down about a 1/4" on both sides and the car will raise in the front. Don't over tighten the sensor bolt. Snug only. Turn air ride off when adjusting.
 
i got the conversion due to multiple problems with air. you could fix one thing and another will go, for the $$ i just got the whole kit and never looked back. even if you like the air its not a difficult job and can always be put back if you want. i want better handling and reliability that was my decision.

Get some strut mounts and tbird front lowers..

Make or buy rear perches..

Can be donr for less then one front air shock with shipping ..

Sell off your air suspension and youll make out great.

Im all for air ride but sometimes cost doesn't outweigh the benefit..

everything for the mark is like that, same things different prices, even the headlamps,the empty housings. the cams 2 intake 2 exhaust with same profiles, 4 different prices. odd indeed. glad to seem someone besides me is confused:)
