I have a 2000 V8 Sport that is sputter/vibrating at idle. Once I get going it doesn't seem to do it. The check engine light has come on as well. I am taking it in, but I am curious if anyone has had this problem and knows what it could be / cost to fix. Thanks!

sounds like you might have a vacum leak that is allowing unmetered air into the engine.poss. a pcv hose leak.getter scanned and go from there and let us know.

OK, so here is the situation. The local shop I go to (NON-FLM) told me that he was uncertain of the exact problem. He also said he hasn't worked on FLM that much and doesn't want to use my checkbook as an experiment to figure out the problem. Which I guess I have to respect that. He did give the number of other local shop (NON-FLM) and said he refers any FLM autos to this guy when he is unsure of the exact problem. The check engine light was on and he pulled the codes. It is reporting that both banks are running lean. He said his best guess would be the mass air sensor. What are your thoughts? If that is the case how much can I expect to pay? It is still rough at an idle, but not as bad as it was originally. Is it ok to keep driving until the other shop can get me in on Monday? I appreciate any help!

Mine was idling rough only when I stopped at a sign or light. When I accelerated then it went away. I decided not to mess with it once the check engine light came on and I took it to the Lincoln dealer. They first changed the #3 coil but it was still not running right. It turned out to be the cylinder head. It took them about three weeks for the whole process. The car was a month out of warranty so all I had to pay was for the coil replacement and $500 while Lincoln picked up the rest, and I got a 30,000 mile warranty on the powertrain along with that $500. Otherwise it would have been about a $6,000 job. I think I had around 2 or 3 grand in just parts. I'm not sure if it is the same thing but best of luck.

I got my LS fixed today. All the MAF needed was a good cleaning. I have ran it about 40 miles and the light has not come back on and she is purring like a kitten. Thanks for the helpful info guys. Once again, this is a great place to keep your LS running great!

Great, btw what and how did you clean it? Did you clean the sensor?
