my brakes are driving me crazy!!! 2 sets of brake pas and a pair of brand new rotors later, its still squeeking like crazy. i thought it was the first set of pads because they were the cheapest ones at oreilly`s so i took them back and got the 50 dollar pair and that didn`t work. so no wi have no idea what to do next. i might try resurfacing the rotors one more time. anyone have any idea what else it could be .. i pray that someone knows something else.

Noisy brakes usually come from the backside of the pad against the caliper. Go to NAPA and get some slide gly grease and coat the bake side of your pads, or CRC makes some red stuff called brake quiet that workse very well. Just make sure you only put it on the caliper sides of the pads.

Squeeky brakes are caused by vibration. You must make sure you do everything to prevent that....which includes a proper rotor finish for the pads you are using. Most pad manufacturers have their recommendation. Next, a vibration dampner on the back side of the pad can help...as was mentioned. There are a couple of different kinds...goop and a stick on pad. I would use them...but they aren't the where all of fixes. The single most missed aspect of a brake job is the hardware. Replace it all with your brake job!! Then get the proper lube for the hardware. Lube for the brake hardware is specific for brakes. Use it! If you do this...and surface the rotors correctly...and break in the pads as the manufacturer recommends, your squealing should go away. Just be aware that if you glaze the pads, or live in a dusty environment, it can come back. Sometimes, there isn't a thing you can do about it.

He is right, you must grease the caliper bolts. Very important that the caliper can move side to side

squeeky brakes.. does it happen when ur about to stop or the minute u touch the brakes..

when i have squeeky brakes its usually at the LAST LAST LAST second before the car comes to a stop.. if that is the case.. it could be from dirt.. u can get dirt between the pad and the rotor and the heat pretty much sticks it to ur rotor.. i give my car a good cleaning and attempt to pressure clean the heck out of them.. and it usually takes care of that problem...

everyone has god points but i have a very simple solution. OK i had the same exact probelm and i was about to sell the car because of it. and. Heres what i did. Well first the reason for the squealing was that i didnt resurface my rotors when i got the pads changed. So i what i did was put permatex disc brake quiet on the pads and still squealing. so i just said f*** it and i got all new rotors (crossdrilled and slotted) and the same brand pads to go with it off ebay for about $260 which is a monster deal. I put them on with the disc brake quiet and guess what, no squealing and i wont have to change my pads for another 30,000 miles and i might never have to resurface my rotors. when you change the rotors or pads make sure you do both at the same time because the pads have grooves in them from the old rotors and same thing when you put new rotors w/ old pads. i suggest just get everthing new but its up to you.

use factory brakes. Im on my second set of pads front and rear and original rotors that I didnt even machine when I put the new pads on and I dont hear a peep out of them.

thanks alot guys. i forgot to mention but they squeel like when i`m about 50% into it then it sometimes stop when i apply more pressure to stop.i have to try greasing the caliper bolts because i tried a new set of rotors and 2 sets of brake pads. the second set i got had the little plate at the back which is supposed to guarantee no squeaking but guess what.. :-s before that my mechanic tried puttin all that orange stuff on the back of the first set of pads i bought but that didn`t work. i might have to just go all out and spend some money because its drivin me crazy. i want people to know i`m coming from the bass coming from my trunk not my brakes.. lol.. i`ll keep tryin stuff and i`ll let u know what fixed it when that day comes.. hopefully..

good luck.. when i had squeeking i got brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors with thermo-quiet pads... worked like a charm.. its been like 6 months and now at times i hear a squeek.. but when i pressure clean them its all good.. eventually ima change them.. remember if u get cross drilled.. u can never sand them down

ok. i might have to turn to those rotors and some new pads again. those rotors look better anyway. thanx again ..
