The weather here in NYC has brutal this winter. Since it has been very cold when I start the my LS 04 V8 in the morning I hear a squeaky noise for about 10-15 minutes then it goes away. Has anybody else experienced this? Could it be the timing chain?

No, timing chains don't squeak.
Most likely, it is related to your damper pulley. On some of them the rubber shrinks too much and the wobble. This can cause the belt to squeak and can wear out the belt tensioner. If you are lucky, then your only problem will be the annoying squeak when everything is cold. If you are really unlucky, the damper will fly apart some day. Anyway, have a look at it when the squeaking is occurring.

Dude, try the new belt first. I had the exact same noise on my LS on startup. wound up replacing idle pulley, and one of the other pulleys as well. I had sworn it couldn't have been the belt because it was brand new. But I also had forgotten about all the coolant that leaked onto this belt during a different install.

Belt replacement on the LS is super easy, just need a long bar (with the square socket end)
