so i go to belle tire today to get an alignment,.. 10 min later they call me out and show me my ball joint on my steering knuckle is bad, and needs to be replaced... they said the balljoint and steering knuckle is one piece, so i cant just replace the ball joint...they tell me $275 for steering knuckle.. and $90 for labor.. What should i do?

what do you mean what should you do? if it needs replaced then have it replaced....and yes you have to do the whole knuckle.

had the car for like 3 months.. and now including this.... $1000 just in repairs... also my air bag light is on, and thats prolly the clockspring, theres another $270.. My hyundai held up better than this

clockspring should cost you under $100 to ship and free labor...just takes about an hour to do. There is a step by step "how-to" on the site.

OK, just bought the knuckle from TeamFordParts.com.. great site, got it for $216 with 2nd day air shipping... also found a local place that will install it for $60.. total $276.. a Hell of a lot better than belle tire($365)

also for the clockspring..yea, i just checked out the teamfordparts ..but the problem is im not 100% sure it is clockspring.. so $85 diagnosis.. and if it is clockspring, itll end up costing me $185

go out to your car...put the key in and turn it w/o turning it on...check the pattern of flashes you have...come back and post what the pattern in.

example: 3 flashes, 6 flashes, 3, 6, etc

i have the 3-2 flash... And yes i checked for that broken wire, and didnt see it.. i also tested my horn and radio functions which work.. but i did not test my cruise control yet.

what was the part number for that knuckle assembly...i am trying to find that part on teamfordparts.com

would i just need to buy the knuckle? is there any additional parts to get to ensure I am replacing the ball joints?

IIRC the knuckle takes care of the lower joint and the upper control arm is replaced to replace the upper joint. someone can chime in here if that's incorrect.

I do not know the part number.. but just go to teamfordparts.com and type in "knuckle" after selecting your make/model/year
