Following gearhead291, i did the steering wheel swap like he did
I took it one step beyond and searched in what needed to be done to connect the buttons for the fan and temp. I couldnt have done it without the Luncoln wiring manual or studying the wires at the junk yard. What i found was it will work and with one simple and easy mod! Here we go-
Nothing has to be changed within the steering wheel or the clocksrping, only after that. Find the plug with that had the white w/blue strip wire under the column, this is the clockspring harness. On cars with JUST cruise steering wheel, this wire is a ground. If you have a swheel with fan and temp options, tjis is the signal wire TO your hvac control. So you have to cut the wire and add you own from the plug as seen in pic- i butt connected before i finished up.
Next, you have to plug it into your hvac control. Yours will have an empty place on the corner where it needs to go, notice the difference in the pic where one has the wire and the other does not (black plug)Sterring Wheel Mod While at the boneyard i took the plug apart (very simple) took the factory wire and inserted it into my harness plug and connected it all up. Boom, all done.I hope someone else can enjoy this nice mod as much ad I have!
