Is it true when you add a aftermarket stereo in place of the alpine 6 disc indash changer that the rear speakers play full range in stead of just bass. I have an in dash dvd player from my last car and I went to talk to my audio sells man today and he said it would sound like crap if i put in because of the rear speakers?????

The factory rear deck spkers are designed for lows only. If you want full range sound out of the rear deck you'll need to replace the factory spkers with two or three way 6x8 or make a template for 6.5" round spkers. Of course you'll need to power them from the HU or additional amp. Not sure what the budget is but I love my JL 500/5. It powers my entire system with full adjustment for your listening pleasure (front, rear, sub).

only if you wire it that way. You need a new audio guy. Most after market radios have a front, rear, and sub output. and your LS has front, rear, and sub speakers apparently he doesn't understand that. If your in-dash dvd player is 5.1 then it justs add an output for a center channel speaker. you could hook it up to your center console speakers

the rears are driven by a seperate rear amplifer - and like most rear sub-woofer amplifers - it's bass only.

If your new head unit is wired to us the rear amp - you'll have the same deal as now.
If you replace the rear amp as well - then you control and decide what those speakers do.

It should be basic stuff for an 'audio guy'.
