A few weeks ago I let a friend borrow my car and she turned the hazard lights on but didn't turn them off. I come out to drive my car home and it was completely dead. I went and found a new battery but by this time it was dark, so i installed it backwards. As soon as I saw the spark I disconnected it and put it in the correct way. My stock radio didnt work and I changed and checked all the fuses, and it works again, but my rear speakers are getting no power so I checkthe the amp fuse. It was blown and I changed it and it blew again. It poped and fizzeled when I changed it again. What could be a reason it it doing this? Is my stock amp fried? What can I do to get it working again. I have a 2006 LS 6 in dash cd changer.

the amp is ruined. common sense is the black terminal is negative and the red is positive. next time you change the battery in the dark, try using a flashlight.

You are very lucky that (or if) the amp was the only thing damaged. In all of my designs, I always put a reverse protection diode just in case something like this happens. It causes the fuse to blow, but otherwise prevents damage. I guess the subwoofer amplifier doesn't have this feature.
