Hi Everyone,

The M8 has been sitting since Sept. with work and the weather, it took some time to replace the front suspension.
I noticed that I have some water in one of the headlight lenses. I would like to remove this from the car, so I can dry it up and look for where the water is getting in. I figured at the same time, I could polish the lenses as they are oxidized.
All the connectors seem straight forward to disconnect, except for the squarish/rectangle one for each of the lights.

It says "high voltage" and "headlamp wire cannot be disconnected." I have seem many posts here where the lenses are not on the car. Do you just cut the two wires? My stock HID's work fine and do not want to damage them.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I found a post where Chris2523 used 97 ballasts and re wired to connect '93 wiring to '96 bulbs. (nice!)

Chris how did you separate that rectangle connector? With mine being 15 years old, I think it best to be gentle, don't want to damage them. Though with all the talk here, think I may just have to get a 9006 hid kit and install it.

I first wanted to upgrade the 9005 hi-beams, I looked at LED's for this last year and asked if anyone had tried...I recently found a new version (see link below) and like them because they look like the stock cover that goes over the original 9005 bulb. With them coming down from $100 to $39.99, I think I'm going to have to give them a try, right after I get the low beams sorted.

I don't want HID's for the the high beam, because of the warm up time. Here is Canada, it seems as if almost everyone has forgotten that the left lane is for passing. I find that I have to high beam 95% of cars as if I'm asking to pass, instead of them just moving over as they should, when they are done passing.

let me see what i can dig up.

pop the cap off the bulb side of the connector. you'll see 3 rectangles. there are 3 clips.

you can see in this picture where i broke the clips off so i wouldn't have to go through all that again. i just used a zip tie instead.

so you have to go in the connector from the headlight wiring side and pop loose all 3 clips. then it comes apart.
