Hey guys my name is Keith and I'm new to the site. I've been looking around and have already learned so much stuff i had no clue about and found tons of great ideas. Now my biggest question, I have had my 03 LS for about 4 months and it was stolen last Sunday, now the car is still under investigation but my main question is how can a Lincoln be stolen if it is equipped with a transponder and is said to be "impossible" to be stolen? Any input, advice, information that may help me is greatly appreciated, Thank you

theres ways around everything if you know what you're doing.

Or they simply could have towed it.

Sucks to hear dude, hope you get it back!

I've heard of LS' being stolen before, and then driven into destruction. So I'm thinking if the guy REALLY knows what he is doing it could be done.

Another theory that I've brought up before here is someone could have been watching your car. I don't know if you park out in the open at work or home, but if someone can obtain your vin number they can have a key made at the dealership. I know this for a fact because I do vehicle repo's sometimes and that's how we get keys for the vehicles. It's simple process really.

he s right.....there s a ford network the dealer can access it will let them find out how many keys have been cut and programmed for that vehicle

That sucks, man.

Is that Marlboro, as in Marlboro, NJ? If so, post up some pictures, or a description of the car and a plate number. There are a few of us in the NY/NJ area.

I had my car stolen before and they found it in a ditch about 60 miles away...I had to pay towing/storage fee's out of my pocket and it busted out the foglights and the corner light and there was a huge dent up on the front fender....guess who gets to pay for all this??? NOT THE CRIMINAL.....nothing happened to the person who did this and I didn't get reimbursed in any way. on a side note they smoked my pack of cigs in there but filled up the gas tank for me which had to be about 40 bucks.

Oh yea and I actually saw my car get stolen I called 911 and said ' MY CAR IS DRIVING SOUTH DOWN PAST THE 1600 BLOCK OF _____ STREET. she said "sir we'll send someone out to talk to you" ...i said "NONO I CAN SEE MY CAR GOING SEND SOMEONE TO FOLLOW IT OR INTERCEPT IT" so she told me to calm down and 18 minutes later an officer came and talked to me. 4 days later it was found.

So I guess what I'm saying is your probably screwed. Hope you got insurance.

I have always covered the VIN thats visable thru the windshield, that stops that possibility. The LS isnt an easy car to steal and a thief will always take the easier way. Thats not to say a LS cant be stolen but unless there is a big reason why they want yours then it should passed by.

My LS was stolen for like 6 months. They found it when it was involved in an accident with 6000 more miles on it. I bought it as a theft recovery for an insane deal. I have put 50K on it since so I lucked out.

I'm actually interested in the specifics of your situation if you dont mind, I.E. - Where was your car parked? Was it day or night? Was it locked? Broken glass? Where did you buy it, possibility of old owner with key or remote?

It really sucks it took that long for the cops to show up... One of my buddy's dad had a couple kids break into his garage. He caught them in the act, kept them in the garage while he called 911. The operator told him that no police were available. He hung up, called back a couple minutes later, and told the operator that one tried to get away, so he shot and killed him, and that the other one he still has in the garage. Guess how long it took the cops to show up? 3 minutes. F*(kers...

When the cops got there they said: "I thought you said you killed one!"

He told them, "I thought you said you were too busy!"

True story.

True story.

And charged with filling a false report.

That would be a stupid thing to do.

Just because you say "True story" doesn't make it so.

the transponder does work they are handheld laptops that the dealer uses to pull the codes of the car and they can directly install or program a key there at the spot, it pluggs into the interface port on the bottom left hand right under the trunk button, it takes 10min and in the car stealing world is a eternity but thats how they dio it, a freind of mines works at a ford dealership and i lost both my keys and i could not get the car towed cuz i was broke, so he told me to wait he has already cut a pair of keys fro me by using my vin number and then he programed the key right in front of me and then he said this is how they do it.

Well you can believe whatever you like. However, I am an honest person, and my words have merit.

That made me LOL. Good one Pektel.

Its sad to see thieves resorting to stealing these worthless cars. Go steal a Vette or something.

If that was the case, why is the freaking Camry the most stolen vehicle?

The Camry is one of the most popular cars on the road, they can sell them for parts really fast. There are way fewer LS's on the road than Camrys.
