So, earlier tonight I opened my trunk with the remote - no problem.

Just got back from going to the store and when I try to lock the door and set the alarm with the remote, nothing.

Tried my other remote - nothing.

Turned the car back on and tried to roll down the windows. None of the windows will roll down, neither from the push buttons on the drivers door or the buttons on each individual door.

The panel on the driver's door won't let me lock or unlock any of the doors, nor do the buttons for Driver 1 or 2 work?

Any ideas?

Something with the Drivers Door Module (DDM)? I believe all of those functions go through it. These are fuses to check

Central junction box (CJB) fuse(s):

7 (5A)
22 (10A)

To be honest, I don't know whether that's the trunk, hood, or cabin fuse box. I got that from the online service manual.

If the fuses check out fine, the next step would be to check for power to the DDM. Just out of curiosity, does your courtesy light turn on when you open the door? Puddle light? Beyond that, I'm not sure.

Ok, thanks. I will check those fuses tomorrow hopefully. The light on the buttons still illuminate, they just dont work.

The car is not here right now, but I THINK the courtesy light came on when I opened the door. I'm not 100% sure, though.

From the passengers front door, I can use the button to lock and unlock all of the other doors except the drivers door, but still, none of the windows roll down.

Thanks for the tip

So it looks like it's probably the DDM from some additional research I've done, but if I buy one on eBay, will I be able to program my remotes to the new DDM?

I read something about needing to download the info from the old one and uplaod it to the new one? Is this the case?

Or can I just use the reprogramming procedure to make it work>?

How to reprogram your remote entry transmitters
You must have all remote entry transmitters (maximum of four)
available before beginning this procedure.
To reprogram the remote entry
transmitters:
1. Ensure the vehicle is electronically unlocked.
2. Put the key in the ignition.
3. Turn the key from the 1 (LOCK) position to 4 (RUN).
4. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1 (LOCK)
position and 4 (RUN). Note: The eighth turn must end in the 4 (RUN)
position.
5. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming
mode has been activated.
6. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 20 seconds have passed you will need to start the
procedure over again.
7. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that this remote entry
transmitter has been programmed.
8. Repeat Step 6 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.
9. Turn the ignition to the 1(LOCK) position after you have finished
programming all of the remote entry transmitters.
10. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming
mode has been exited.

That's the procedure for gen II (2003-2006). The only way to do it on your gen I is with the dealer's scan tool. This would be true even if you weren't changing out the DDM.

I've taken the front door panel off a dozen times at least. From replacing some speakers to replacing window regulators 4 times in that door.

Just where exactly is the DDM within the door? Pretty easy to get to, unbolt and replace myself?

Thanks Joe.

So when I went out to the car tonight, the remote worked! I got in and the windows worked, the seat went into the correct position, and when I shut the car off, the seat went back!

Then I came back from inside the store, and it wasn't working. I got in, turned the car on, nothing. Then as I started to move forward, I tried to let the window down, and it went, then I was able to lift it back up. A few minutes later, I tried again, but nothign worked. So it seems totally intermittent at this point.

Still sound like the DDM?

I suspect a damaged wiring harness somewhere. First thing I'd do is check the connector block located next to or underneath the driver side foot rest (can't really remember where I saw it but it's around there.) IIRC, it should be under the carpet and there should be quite a few connector blocks there but one should be for the drivers door. Just give it a push/press and try your luck.
