Since few days I can hear strange yet very delicate metallic noise coming from the back of my car. I thought it was something wrong with the suspension, but I had my lincoln chcecked in the garage today, and mechanicians could not locate the source of the strange noise. They said everythinng was ok..

The suspicious sound comes - it looks like it - from the backseat. It's like two small metal plates rubbing on each other..still it's a very subtle sound.

does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Thank you in advance!!!

Do you get the noise while moving only or moving and stopped? I had an issue with the brake backing plate being bent up just ever so slightly which was riding on the rotor and made a similar sound. I was able to pull down on the shield and poof- be gone. If it is a rattle kind of noise, I would first check the rear sway bar end links and possibly the bushings to the sway bar.

The noise occurs only while moving. I dont think its the brake backing plate, although I will check it just to be sure :) Its not a rattle sound, more like "metalic cricket", or bird's chick asking for food. I really dunno what it may be causing it...:(

But thanks for Ur answer!

Go to your rear bumber and press down on it a few times and see if it makes the noise, bird chirp sounds like a suspension part. Possibly sway bar bushings or end links.

Yes I did that as the first thing. I was positively sure its sometnig wrong with some of the suspension parts. I was swinging the rear part of a car up and down. Pretty strong. Nothing. Not a sound.
I am really cofused...

I was hoping it was i..cos it sounded logically. But no - nothing wrong with the exhaust pipe...shame :(

Locating a sound it can help to have somebody either drive the car or roam around back seat or trunk to pin point.

Spare tire and/or hold down in trunk?

yes I thought about spare tire as the first thing. We have been trying to locate the sound staying either on the back seat or in the trunk while the car was moving around the parking place. The sound comes from around the left dumper. But it is "circa" around and the dumper is ok...I dont know what else can be done :(

Maybe I will consult a clairvoyant? :)

I had seen reports of loose tail light assemblies long ago.

Take out backseat and see what is under it, too. Probably full of money....

I found $6 in coins, a matchbox car, and some Lego pieces when I took the back seat out the first time. I bought my car from my grandpa and he got a kick out of what I found in there

Sorry for silly question, but how do I open back seat in my LC?
I dont want to brake anything...

Push in/back on the front of the bottom section of the back seat then pull up to release it from the hook. You have to do this on both driver and pass side, 2 hooks. After it unhooks, lift up disconnect the ash tray light and remove. To remove the back section, unbolt the 2 bolts that hold it in, i believe the are 10mm bolts then slide the seat up to unhook (3 hooks) then remove.

The seat wont budge! Either I am dumb or there's sometning wrong with the seat "locking mechinsm". I push it down, I try to push it back - nothing. It wont move an inch :(

You don't have to push down on it, it's actually easier to feel how it unhooked by lifting up slightly while pushing VERY hard towards the back of the car. Move each of the front seats all the way forward and use them to push against. It's a PITA at times but once you unhook it once you'll be able to do it again without issues.
