Having an issue with my '87 Bill Blass coming off idle. If I gently apply throttle the car seems to stumble...or is it the tranny slipping? If I stab the gas firmly the car moves with no stutter. The tranny shifts smoothly up and down through the gears:steering and does nothing abnormal that I can find. Could there be a dead spot in my TPS around idle and once it moves past this spot it gives a clean signal? (this is my speculation so tell me if I'm way off the mark) The Idle air bypass valve is clean and the plugs are fresh. Bought the car with an occasional stall on idle and surging on startup. These problems have vanished with the minor tune up I just described.:bash: Only the stumble remains. Oh yeah, my throttle valve bushing is intact and healthy and the cable has been adjusted to spec. Please Help! Thanks.

does not sound like the tps. was the gap on the plugs set ,fuel filter , have you pulled the pcv and gone in the hole to remove that filter in the engine block will need some needle nose pliers just throw it away .egr system clean.any codes

If you do that, you will start sucking oil into the intake manifold.

then replace with the part from the help section ran my 89 mark for three years with out one no prob they all get oil on them with the filter or without but it something to check out may help

Hi all, thanx 4 the info. Haven't done the PCV. Plug gaps are bang on. Haven't done fuel filter either, good point. Does fuel pressure vary with throttle position etc? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I've only ever driven carbeurated Fords, still learning. Had an '86 VW scirocco but the F.I. was much more primitive (80 % mechanical). Car is now in storage for a little while so I won't be able to wrench on it right away (no instant gratification) but please keep bouncing ideas off me, all input is appreciated!:D

speed density 5.0 's seem to have this problem the most idle hunting
