i know this isnt a car audio forum just hoping someone can help. heres my situation i recently installed 2 12" xtants and an xtant a6001 amp. everything was working fine but i then installed a rlc (bass knob), after a week of using that my subs stop working. the speakers and everything will still work and the subs will come on for about 20 secs. then just stop and an orange light comes on on the amp, thermal protection circuit. it happened a week ago then it was fine for a week. i took it to get checked out and its running at 3.9 ohms. checked all the wires and all the connections are good. i hit 3-6 on the radio all speakers but subwoofer II didnt play anything. ive asked all the car audio places and they have no clue. oh yeah i did unplug the rlc and it still did the same thing. any input would be great at this point.

What gauge power and ground, and is this only at high volumes? Also, how far up is the bass boost and level? I know xtant overheats quick if you are really pushing the amp hard.

What kind of subs are they, single or dual voice coil? How are they hooked up, parallel or in series? Is that the 1 channel amp?

i spoke with him a lil on aol im his amp is a 1 channel.. (mono block) I had him check the ground/power wires/ all connections.. he has a line out converter runnin of the rear speakers... his subwoofer 2 speaker isnt workin which i believe is the rear driver side speaker..

If one of his speakers does not work, the rear/drivers, then I would disconect that side from the line converter. Since its a mono amp, you do not need both RCA's connected to the amp, it should work fine with just one side connected. Also, having the subs connected and at 4 ohms is probably unlikely, like he mentioned. Unless the subs are dual voice and 8 ohms each coil then it can be 4 ohms, or each sub is 2 ohms. The amp he has is mono at 4 ohms, if the subs are connected wrong and the load is less then 4 ohms then the amp will go into protect mode. Try to check the total ohms at the terminals at the amp. If it is in mono, then there should be just two speaker wires going into the amp.
