I have 2 12" sony subs with a 500 watt rms amp right now. I'm thinking of selling the subs and getting either a 12" jl w3v2 or 12" alpine type r. It hate having to take out the box to access the spare and battery. Do you think I should change my subs or just try to fit the sonys in a more compact box?

i had the same problem with my box. i ended up takind a table saw and trimming it down to fit in the trunk

you got any pics of your trunk 2K? and wut do u mean, you cut the top off, shortened the box, and glued the top back on the box?

is the box to high to fit all the way in the back?, if thats the case you could probably get a box that fits the subs at a 45 degree angle.

I got it all the way back, about 70 degree angle fits real nice. Here's a pic. It's probably about 3 inches too long to access the spare and battery.

I have the JL 12W3V2 and it is too tall to fit all the way back in the trunk. It’s mounted in a tuned box that sounds awesome but I’d hate to sacrifice sound for space. At least I can still fit my golf clubs in the trunk. As for accessibility to the battery and spare tire -- try not to get a flat or run your battery down lol.

A while back, maybe december, I had to replace my battery, and the ground stud broke. So every week or so, I had to take the subs out, and re tighten the ground. After that, I finally found my rivet gun, and popped a new stud in there. Haven't had any problems since.
