Best Buy installed wiring for my subs that is too short, and it slid out of place tonight and either the ground or B+ wire touched a chrome plate and made a huge zap. Now, I installed both wires again and it's not getting power. Could the fuse be blown, or the amp be fried?

Not good. I hope the fuse caught it, thats what its there for, otherwise it could of fried the amp. The power wire should be fused by the battery and the amp should be fused to protect it. Good luck.

check the fuse on the power wire.. check the fuse on the amp.. if those are fine then u obviously fried the amp.. what brand is the amp? where are u located?

I'm with them. Either fuse should have blown before the amp fried. Just check the onboard and the in-line next to the battery.

Sounds like a Fosgate amp. If the amp is fried, go back to BB WITH YOUR RECEIPTS and demand that they take care of you. I install at BB and the managers at my place would crumble and give you anything you want. You paid to have it professionally installed. I would see if they could move you into the Alpine sub amp. Also, let them know that since the LS is so computer dependent you want them to take responsibility if anything is messed up on your car. They should have done it right the first time! They are taking time out of your schedule! They now owe you.
The reason I am going off like this is because I put a lot of pride in my installs and a power wire that is too short is unacceptable-Especially when the battery is in THE TRUNK!!! Its stuff like this that gives me a bad name by proxy.
Just out of curiousity where did they mount the amp?

Thanks for the help guys. It is a Fosgate amp. So you think they'll move me into an Alpine for free? I'm definately requesting that they redo the wiring so it has room to slide, there wasn't nearly enough slack for it to roam. I'll definately mention the computer and see what I can do. I appreciate it guys, when it comes to electronics... I'm out there. Where would I get new fuses at? The amp was mounted on the sub box, in the back of it.

Since they did the install they should be responsible for replacing the fuse. Don't let them trick you iinto thinking you are responsible for that fuse(S) if it wasn't for there half A$$ install you would still have a fuse..

I went there today and I set up an appointment. The kid there said they'd have to check if it is actually their fault, even after I told him how the wires pulled out due to not enough slack on their part. I pretty much told him he shouldn't even bother looking if it was their fault because it was, it's not like I shortened the wire or anything.

i went to a buddy at CC to install my subs and they put alot of slack in it. it would slide and hit the front of the trunk. is what you should do (what i did) take a strip of velcro and but it into 4 piece and put em on each corner of the box. this way it doesnt slide when u gas or brake it, but if u need to move it it comes right out pretty easily.

for as long as you own your car its that simple... lol but hey :q:q:q:q it its lifetime

Whatever you do, they f'ed up! We ALWAYS mount the amp somewhere other than the box! In my brothers car we mounted it on the bottom of the rear deck and in another LS I put it on the back of the seat. Clean as all hell but there are then cuts in the seat carpet on the back. All the customers I have installed for have loved the look. If that stores management is anything like mine they will crumble at the site of an upset customer. Good luck and don't back down! It is their fault and the install is guarenteed for Life!

once everthing is in working order again...try securing the box to the car, so it DONT slide around.

Lol yeah I'm definately going to mount the box. I might try that velcro thing, but with the way I drive I'll need a lot of velcro.
