I recently purchased a 2000 LS V8 with 87500 miles. The engine after warming up had a miss at idle and the transmission would hunt for the right gear around 45mph. The check engine light came on after a few days of this. I took it to the Lincoln dealer to have them do the diagnosis with the understanding that I would make the actual repair. The scan showed that the #8 coil was creating a misfire on that cylinder. I had read on the LVC that the misfire can also cause the tranny to act up. I replaced the #8 coil, the previous owner had already had the valve cover gaskets and sparkplug tube orings replaced along with the sparkplugs (Motorcraft). It ran the same afterwards, no improvement. The first coil was a Motorcraft that cost me $66.00. I decided to replace the other seven but cheaped out and bought them on ebay for $40.00 each. They look almost identical but were made in Brazil I believe. Anyway, I'm very happy to report that it is running perfect now with no trans problems either! I also replaced the rotors with Brembo (no slots or holes) all the way around, ceramic pads on the front with oem on the back. Rebuilt the sliders also. I bought the kit from Harbor Freight that someone on here talked about for screwing in the rear caliper pistons. The brakes work better than any car I've ever had. This forum has been a great help to me and I wanted to give some feedback to hopefully help someone else. I really like my LS. Brownie
