Hi.
Is this a FACTORY moon roof (with an access panel to the motor above the rear seats) or an AFTERMARKET moonroof (with an added metal trim attached outside to the roof surrounding the opening)?

dont know about an acess panel havnt removed the headliner yet but im sure its factory no metal outside at all and the switch is located on the console finishing panel infront of the shifter pretty much all i need is a pic of where the wires go into the plug

I am not sure but I do not think you would need to take the headliner down, hence the access cover. If it is anything like I remember seeing in them

dont think there is a panel put im pretty sure its factory no metal trim only rubber visable and the wires in the console all look factory

This would be the location of an aftermarket switch. The factory switch is the in the overhead finish panel, between the thermometer and compass switches. Look inside of the driver's side door frame for a manufacturer's/installer's sticker. That would be who could give you the definative answer on your installation.

The installer did a good job! :) A factory installation has an actual finished access panel built into the headliner, about 12x12 inches square, located above the backseat arm rest. Outside, the finished body panel is folded down and spot welded over matching painted sheet metal. There will be four drains with the two forward drains clearly visible.

in 1986, these were installed at the factory by ASC.

wow hard to believe an aftermarket one fitting that well  even matches the curve of the roof perfectly thx for the help ill see if i can get hold of the manufactuer if not its just like 6 wires shouldnt be to hard to figure out

You're welcome.

Don't let anyone tell you anything different.

There are good AND bad aftermarket installations. If the switch is three wire, then it's as basic as your window motor circuts (forward, ground, backward). Four or more and then you may have a vent window and security (timed closure circut) feature.

The aftermarkets do not have a standard past four wire circuts.

try shopsar.com i was able to find an asc switch there. when you get to website
type sunroof switch in search, will bring up all sunroof switches they have.

thx guys got it workin just took a few blown fuses lol now to get it to stop leakin before it ruins my new headliner that was a pain in the butt to install cause they did away with the fiberboard instead of just cutting a hole gonna call asc bout a new seal

From what you've described, it's not an ASC moonroof.
