Anybody know how much it would cost to install a sunroof on my 2000 LS. That's the only thing the car is missing in my opinion. Well, that and a little more power.

$400?? seems a little low my friend paid $1000 for a moonroof from the lincoln dealer

that may have just been a pop up i cant remember it was like 3 years ago. i think luckieleo had one put in. you should pm her

a sunroof/moonroof like the factory is about $1300 aftermarket installed.

ehhh. I would probably pass; I have been considering shopping the yards for black interior pieces. I hate dealing with the sunroof seals. They are good for a few months then next thing you have is howling over your head... I have enough crazy howling in my life between my children and my clients that can't read the Help file.

i basically got mine for free, but they tried to tack on $1000 to add teh sunroof when i bought the car. i initially was gonna walk away cuz i wouldnt accept an LS without a sunroof, but they really wanted to sell me the car, so with my charming smile & a whole lot of negotiating back & forth, i was able to get it added on for $100, then lower the price of the car $100. ha!

if you wanted a sunroof added on to the LS, the only way to get it cheap is negotiate it when you initally buy the car or know somebody at a shop that does it. :L

I think Webasto makes the sunroofs for Ford. Look for a Webasto dealer or installer in your area.

I have had 3 sunroofs including my 2 week owned 04 LS. All have been pretty good and I enjoyed the one on my 89 SHO and now my LS. The one on the minivan is a bit too windy.

On my 89SHO, the seals started to leak after about 5 years. What happened in that case was the seal kind of shrank and a gap opened up where the two ends meet. Rain did start to come thru that and stained the liner. BY the way, Griots Garage sells a good upholstry cleaner that take out water stains in the liner great.

The dealer sold me a new seal for I think in the $50 range? and it is easy to install but you got to be careful about stretching it when installing. Otherwise a few days later the gap is back. It is just glued on.

Not sure on the LS, but my SHO and Mercury minivan both have rain drains that look like tubes that come up into the roof well and angle towards the front of the car I think down the roof pillars. They can get sealed so you might need to poke them out with a long snaky thing. I think I used a long piece of steel cable with a rubber tip on it.

Good Luck,

My '89 SHO moonroof never leaked, even after more than 10 yrs, but it always had wind noise (as did the windows in that car). I was concerned that the LS would be this way, and was actually looking for one without it, but both of our LSs are extremely quiet. After I drove the first one with the moonroof, I wanted it as an option on the second one also. It is a more expensive option than the Sport package too!
