I just bought a superchips #1725 micro-tuner for my 2001 continental and it says in the manual to pull the fuel pump fuse.
There is no fuel pump fuse in the fusebox!!! What should I do now?

What does pulling the fuse do for the whole programming process? What would the consiquences of "not" removing it?

If all that is needed is to disable the pump couldn't I just unplug the wire harness going to the tank?

thanks in advance

right for the wrong reason

I am actually looking for the propper way to "disable" the fuel pump acording to the directions of the superchips micro-tuner.

I've done this myself plenty of times already. Just forward of your passenger rear tire, under the chasis is a wire harness that connects the computer to the rear indicators, including fuel, It takes literally seconds to lay on your back disconnect this wire and proceed with the Superchip installation. Now this is assuming your wireharness is in the same location as mine or your vehicle is close in model or year. But take a look anyhow, you may find it easier.

evillally and subcook32 thanks you were both right. I did the inertia switch route. I had to remove the whole panel to get access to the wiring. I was also gonna try removing the wire harness to the tank. I talked to the superchips guy and he said pulling the harness from the switch would be better. I unhooked the wire harness then started the car and it ran for like 20 seconds then sputered out. yep, the fuel pump is disabled. I hooked up the tuner and everything went fine durring the process of saving the stock program until the tuner said "The tuner requires an update... call superchips. press any key to continue" I talked to a supernice guy there and said the problem is likely because of the dealer installing a newer ecm program than the car came from the factory with. and the tuner was made 4/8/04 and I purchased it 9/16/05 so it has been sitting in a warehouse for more than a year and my cars computers program is newer than what the programmer is looking for for the cars stock program. So they gave me a rma # and they will send me back a more up to date tuner that should solve the update problem I hope. we'll see what happens next. thanks everyone

also the superchips guy said the reason they want the fuel pump disabled is because they don't want the pump drawing power so the tuner gets the maximum batery voltage possible. Makes perfect sense to me.

yeh, don't even waste your time, just program the thing, i do this every day for my customers, probably 35+ installs this year, no problems..lol

I've sent in my SuperChips because I was nice to share it with someone who sold there car and I couldn't reverse it without his car. So I sent it in to superchips and recieved an ra number too, they are very backed up and it has taken forever to get mine back, still waiting.......
