For the most part, when I get out of the car and shut the door, I will hear a click noise and the rear suspension will lower...
Sometimes I will not hear the click and the suspension will not lower. Is this bad for the car?
Is there a sensor or somthing not working?

I had air suspension on my 85 Crown Vic, and the clicks were just the compressor letting out air. It doesn't always let all the air out, and it isn't bad, but you might want to get your compressor looked at.

what yr is it caddy was right i got a 95 n the clickin prolly is it letting air out somtimes when i go fast or over alot of bumps the air suspension lifts up higher and when i get out and stop it lowers itself how far does it drop???? lower than normal if it doesnt sink way down its probably normal

The car automatically levels the ride height. When you turn the car off, got out, and shut the door, the ride height has changed and the supension is going to correct for that. Since getting out of the car removes weight, the suspension will be higher than it is set for and in turn vent air our to bring the car to trim height. You probably do not effect the rear end too much, and something as simple as a variance in the way the car sits when it is parked will change how it reacts. As long as it vents and you do not find yourself driving with more ground clearance than a Hummer, you're fine.

Sorry,

I have a 94 T/C. It does not drop below normal range. Just sometimes when I shut the door it does not lower. I did notice if I star/stop the car and exit as normal it will lower. Crazy little car........Thanks, I will have the compressor looked at. Did not know if it was a switch in the door.

Thanks for your help! :Bang

Thanks for the information. Looks like I am trying to find a problem when there actually is not one.... :eek2:

Appreciate the help!

The towncar only has rear air suspension but should not lower that quickly after the rear level change. If you're hearing noise as you get out, it might just be the compressor clicking off from a normal cycle. Now if you have a car with 4-corner air bag suspension, as I recall, the car is supposed to lower slightly after ignition off to lower ride height and facilitate egress. It should mention this in your owner's manual.

I think what you are saying is correct. I will check the owners manual and see if there is any info.

Thanks

My air suspension is completely gone and this is the 2nd time. So I'm wondering if it would be smart to convert my air spring suspension to a coil spring suspension. Please leave some feedback.

if u dont want to have to pay for the repair again it is a cheaper n faster fix u will b giving up the air ride but if what u r lookin for is a cheaper way to get out of it go for it what has gone out maybe if it is the compressor u can find a junked one do u kno what exactly went out? is it a leak or bad compressor??????

You have to completely diagnose the problem with the air suspsension. I just replaced my air bags about 2 months ago, and have not had a problem with the suspension at all... The air bags were put to the test two weeks ago when I went t othe airport to pick up two friends and their wives. All had 4 bags each and it all fit in the trunk!(love the trunk) I was a little anxious as this was the first time that the new bags would be tested. But it worked out fine, and no "air susp." light or anything came on...
