Anyone ever had one of these? I was thinking about what I want to drive a few years from now. I love my Mark VIII, but theres one thing I really want, a Stick Shift! I seem to have some sort of addiction, because every time I get into the drivers seat of an Auto trans, I wish I could shift the gears myself. My dad has a new Mercury Milan, and I love the way it handles, but of course the v6 is an auto.
So I was thinking about the Contour svt. Has anyone had one or driven one? I want to know what other people think of them.
I like the idea of a sharp handling v6 that I can row my own gears in. They cost only a little more than a mark viii, and are a bit newer.

i have a '99 contour se, i know it's not an svt but it's as close as you can get without being an svt. i love it, it's pretty quick and does handle pretty good. never have any problems with it either. my friend owned an svt contour which i did drive, you're right it is more fun cause it's stick. plus there are quite a few mods you can do to them also.

they are ok, fun, zippy, stick shift, but at the end of the day its still just a contour, with all the contour problems and recalls

go buy a beater 5.0 mustang to have fun in and beat to hell...parts are reasonbly cheap and very easy to get..plus itll beat a contour svt in reverse haha

.. and keep your mark for comfy driving

i don't think you buy a contour to race 5.0's. but if you want a decently quick car that's halfway fun to drive and gets good gas mileage it's great for a daily driver. plus like i said, had mine for over four years and never had any major problem with it. stills runs great.

ive seen a few (at work) and i will agree that the svt seems to hold up better than the standard contour, with a lot less problems.

I had a 99 SVT and I must say that it was one of the funnest cars that I ever owned...it handled like it was on rails and had a ton of power for the lil V6 that it was! Put a nice intake on it and some exhaust and the sound of the secondaries as they open reminded me of my 91 Taurus SHO only better built and tighter in the corners...possibly a bit faster :)
