I've been having this code for a little bit now. I cleaned the MAF sensor which was the easiest thing to do and the code came back 30 miles later. I deleted it and it came back 130 miles later. I'm guessing its not a big problem since it takes so long to come up but I still dont want it to get worse. I took it to pepboys since they said they could get the problem, called me an hour later saying they couldn't contine checking the car cause it had aftermarket exhaust and aftermarket intake and the ls was very sensitive to aftermarket parts. They said I had to remove the aftermarket stuff so they could check it completly, yeah I'll swap them out right away for ya. So I gotta keep working at it now. I tried searching on this but not a lot comes up.I posted a while back and got this possible problems. Any other info is appreciated.Oh and they said running too rich meant its using more fuel than it should. But can it also be normal fuel and less air, normal air too much fuel?

Some possible causes: (In no particular order)
1. Bad coils.
2. Bad injectors.
3. Bad MAF.
4. Bad fuel pressure sender.
5. Bad O2 sensors.
6. Wiring fault.
7. Bad PCM.
8. Internal engine problem.

Are you noticing any problems or symptoms while driving?

Not really. Maybe a little tiny rough "idle" I guesss you would call it when I'm cruising at like 70, it feels like its misfiring, but its very minimal so sometimes I think its just how the car is or the road. The car runs good, I just didnt want that little problem to escalte into a big one. Last time it took me a while to change out the coils and I damaged the pcm. Dont want another one of those

If you don't mind me asking how did you damage the PCM?

Bad coils can damage the PCM, but it usually takes a while. (The voltage kickback from the coils slowly burns holes through the insulating layers in the driver ICs.)

Well the first time we had misfires we didnt think it was coils until it really started to misfire so we change 3 or 4 of them. Then a month later that etc control thing came on again and it felt like it was misfiring again. My dad check the car out for me again but it wasn't the coils this time.Check the injectors plugs and nothing. Took it to the dealership and they said the pcm was giving the code for the coils being bad so they changed them to see if if fixed the problem but nope, they couldn't figure it out and said the last possibility was the pcm. I had to go to school so I drove it misfiring for about a month before we took it to the dealership. Then another two weeks before the new pcm came in and installled. The problem went away. They said something like since i ran it with bad coils the first time for so long it messed with the pcm and then when i finally got new coils and everything was fine it was sending wrong information out and interfering with the engine and other stuff so yeah. The coils were all new but it still said coils were bad. It was mainly my dad that prolonged the dealership the first time when it was the coils misfiring. He didn't want to pay all that money when he coud fix it himself, but took him a while to actual take a look cause he works a lot.

I have a tune in it. Could it be that the amount of fuel was change with it and it think there is a problem when there isn't?
