so I went to auto zone when I bought my belt like a week or 2 ago and they asked me if I had ac or not... and I got to thinking my ac doesn't work anyways right now and its winter and if my ac compressor is going that could be the noise. so whats a newer new belt gonna hurt if I can re-route it to not use the ac. MY question is how would someone put a belt on without going over the ac.. can it be done??

How do you propose to route the belt and still retain functionality of the tensioner? You could buy an A/C delete kit which replaces the compressor with a billet plate with a pully welded to it. But thats gonna be a few hundred which could go torwards a new compressor (IF that's what is bad.)

Thats exactally why I asked.. cause I didn't know how to re-route the belt, didn't think it could be done easily

ac delete

I deleted my AC, but in order to do so I made a new idler pulley in a smaller diameter so it would work with tensioner

How does it run? any gains?

for now, just unplug your a/c clutch connector,on the compressor.this way the ac compressor itself wont be turning, just the hub.

when I did the ac , I also put on the electric water pump. as far as gains, didnt take it to the track but it is alot more responsive. The car runs pretty good, second gear shift will leave a 25 foot patch.
