Lenin. Hitler. Obama?
Though most people probably wouldn't add our president to that kind of lineup, an Iowa tea party group did.
A billboard of the three leaders, designed by the North Iowa Tea Party, has been on display in downtown Mason since last week. The sign shows a large photograph of Obama sandwiched between Nazi leader Adolf Hilter and Communist leader Vladimir Lenin with the labels "National Socialism,""Democrat Socialism,"and "Marxist Socialism,"respectively.
Beneath the three leaders' photographs is the slogan "Radical leaders prey on the fearful and naïve.”
The brazen sign has garnered unwanted attention, even within the Tea Party itself.
"That's just a waste of money, time, resources and it's not going to further our cause,"said Shelby Blakely, a leader of the national group Tea Party Patriots. "It's going to make people think that the Tea Party is full of a bunch of right-wing fringe people, and that's not true."
The White House would not comment on the billboard.
The co-founder of the 200-person group, Bob Johnson, acknowledged the sign's photographs may have taken away from the group's intended message.
"The purpose of the billboard was to draw attention to the socialism. It seems to have been lost in the visuals," Johnson said. "The pictures overwhelmed the message. The message is socialism."
Johnson said he wasn't aware of any plans to remove the sign.
Not everyone was so critical, including Kent Beatty, owner of the billboard.
"We believe in freedom of speech,"he said.

Obama may be Toonses but to compare him to history's mass murderers beclowns the Tea Party.
Not to mention americans are notoriously ignorant and uninterested in history.
Yawn, yawn.
It would require some research on the topic which is typically too much to ask of john and jane Q public.
But hey it's fun to do this neurotic self satisfying stuff.
It says more about the authors than the target.
Free speech is not (thank God) smart speech.
