My Lincoln saga continues... :)

I have a 2002 LS v8 and having issues with the AC. I have to drop the temperature setting down to 67 to get the AC to start blowing cold. If I go above 67 it starts to blow warmer air. There are times that it will blow warm air while set at 67 degrees. I can either drop it to 66 or wait a few minutes and it will start blowing cold again. It will always blow cold when set at 60 degrees.

I have run the sensor test from the temp control panel and everything passes. Any ideas on what it could be? This started 3 or 4 months ago. Prior to that I would usually set it at 74 and it kept me nice and comfortable.

Thank you all for your help.

It's the exact same problem that almost everyone else has had at least once. Your DCCV. Get Bosch or Motorcraft. Stay away from aftermarket on this part unless you want to replace it every two or three months.

I thought it was interesting that this is a more marginal failure, instead of the more common complete failure. Might open it up to being a failing solenoid controller in the DATC (happened to me earlier this year), or a bad temp sensor.

I put in a new DCCV 3 months ago since the old one sprung a small leak. This was happening on the old DCCV and continued to the new one. While it is possible to get a bad one, is it possible that its something else? My thought was a sensor or the temperature control (the thing under the radio) going bad and sending bad signals to the DCCV. Where are the temp sensors at? I know there are several but have no clue where they are. Thanks,

FWIW, my DATC failure was silent.

Gen 1's are pretty popular in junkyards these days. Maybe see if there's one in your area and a self-pull yard? Swapping the DATC is a 30 minute job and the units can be had for ~$25 at the yard. Of course I pulled three in one trip but only one worked. One didn't drive the fan at all, and one didn't engage the A/C compressor.

From my poking around with Gen 1, all 2000-2002 DATCs are plug-compatible and will work, regardless of car configuration/options. Some of the algorithms and reactions to button presses changed a bit. I think there were three generations of DATCs (I saw at least three different part numbers): 2000, 2001-early 2002 and late 2002.

I also have a good spare on my shelf that I could be convinced to let go of. Of course, this may not even be your actual issue.

Oddball. Perfect. I'll private message you to find out how to purchase your DATC. Its worth a shot. :)
