I test drove a '96 Town Car Executive Series on friday. It was in an extremely good condition. It was light grey with light grey leather, no rust, the leather was immaculate, overall it was very clean. It has 138k miles and they want $3495 for it.

What I liked about it:
- very smooth
- very quiet
- 4.6 V8 because it's so reliable, and it's decently quick
-digital dash
-trip computer
- great looking car
- L-O-N-G hood
- hood ornament
-CD Player (my '92 deville only has cassette)
-very reliable car, built to last, well engineered
-easy to work on motor compared to my car
-RWD
-Body on frame
- the engine sits longitudinal (the correct way!)
- 4R70W is the most reliable tranny in the 90-97 Town Cars
-simpler design than the FWD devilles
- time tested design and Panther chassis
- variable steering ratio
- cupholders are in dash
- MASSIVE trunk
- storage bins in front doors

What I didn't like about it:
- It feels HUGE compared to my deville
- lack of steering feel, but I would get used to that
- it handles like a wet sponge (but it rides VERY VERY smoothly :)
- Higher dashboard, beltline
- it didnt have the storage armrests of the Signature/ Cartier series
- seats felt like they had less padding then my deville does.
- actually, the seats were less comfortable
- lots of plastic on dashboard

I would buy a 93-97 Town Car because they are so reliable, built well, and ride so nice, easy to work on, decently fast, great looking and are cheap to come by and insure

Cool, i say you should buy it. dont worry about the size, i got used to it right away, and if you like the storage armrests, pic some up at a picapart. im thinking about that, i have a 95 executive, love it, i wish it was a cartier, but hey, cant have your cake and eat it too.

My car leaks a bit of oil and coolant, but other than that, It's still pretty good. But if anything goes bad and I have to get a new car, the Town Car is my #1 choice. I dont know how my parents would feel about another big V8 car, so they may limit my choice to something with the GM 3800 V6. Thats what they've always wanted me to get, a 91-96 Park Ave or Oldsmobile Ninety Eight.

oh, well, thats to bad. maybe just tell them TC's are V6.lol

As much as I would love to do that, my dad knows cars quite well, and he would know I'm lying. But they can't really stop me. I mean the Caddy or Roadmaster I had were never their first choice for cars, and I got those :)

My dad is fine with me getting a that Town Car :)

I'm gonna go look at it again and take pics w/ digital camera. I'm gonna see what they would pay for my car, and if its $2500, I could possibly buy that '96 Executive Series Town Car on the spot. If I could talk him down from $3495 to $3000 cash :D I would go to my grandpa's on thanksgiving with a new car! :D :D

But I feel kind of sad letting my deville go. I really liked that car for the most part, and got attached to it :C :(

well, if you dont like the tc, you can always go back to caddy, but im pretty sure youll love it. I used to have a 89 deville, for about a month but then i got the tc, so theres still a little bit of me thats fond of cadillac.

I do still like Cadillac, Except for the Brougham, everything they make is FWD, and I do not want another FWD V8 car! And I can not afford a good, newer brougham.

I like the 93-96 fleetwood brougham, but i heard that its not much bigger inside then the tc. All the extra length is on the hood.

I'm not gonna buy it

The trade in value of my car is $1500, and he wants $3,000 for it, and I don't have $1500 to put into it

It needs a water pump and 4 new shock absorbers.

My car isn't worth anything so theres no point to me selling it.

It really pisses me off how these big american luxury sedans are worthless and those little rusty, ugly, bland asian compacts are worth so much

I would look for a nice Mark VIII instead, you will be much happier.

Well, dont trade it in, sell it privately and then get that one or another tc.

depends on what he needs. i would love a 98 lsc... but in all reality it would be stupid for me to downgrade to a smaller car, considering the amount of equipment i have to haul to band practice and shows, plus my singer rides with me. its also fun to have more than one passenger sitting comfortably in your car.

I can fit 4 adults comfortably in my car, the trunk space is also quite large. It may not by Town Car large, but big enough.

About the Mark VIII, for me right now, It's too mechanically complex and my father wont let me have a sports coupe with 280 hp. It would be a fun car though. I test drove one a while back and I really liked it.

And I can't sell it privately because like most 4.9 V8's, It has the main bearing thump, and that will scare most people away.

Right now, what I am going to do is get an older accord just because they're cheap, reliable, economical, simple cars that get you from point A to point B with out fuss. I will get a Town Car or Brougham after college when I have more money. Then a few years after that, I would love to buy a '72-76 Mark IV or a 77-78 Eldorado Biarritz as a project "hot rod" car. :)

Well thats to bad. But as long as you get one eventually. Good luck!

Oh yeah I'll definitely buy a 93-96 Town Car after college. :)

The nice thing is if I wait, I'll save up more money, and therefore will have more money to spend on a Town Car. Which means I can afford a really nice low mile Signature or Cartier edition, in the colors I want, with the options I want.

Or I could get a 90-92 Cadillac Brougham, But they might be a little too old by then for a good daily driver.

thats too bad man...once you get a taste of REAL american luxury...you won't ever go back to anything else!!!
