Tonight my 14 year old and I spent two and a half hours in the last car my father built.
He started me young handing him tools and making him crushed ice for his pepsi.
Put the tools away he would tell me that was my main job.
He built a lot of cars most of them were ford coupes, A few 50s cars, and fewer 60s cars.
He made me a ford man, thats the cars "we" built.
The car he always wanted the funny thing is... a plymouth.
He was in his early 60s when he called me and said he had found the car he always wanted to build and I shoud come and look at it.
This is what he found.

I wish I had a picture of how bad the fenders were on this car it was a total mess.
How could he want to take this on at his age I thought to myself.
But I said ok dad make him a offer and if you want it I will go get the car hauler.
$1500 was the deal they struck I was sure my father was insane.
Funny thing he wasent crazy but he was sick we just didnt know it.
Half way thru this build we found out he had cancer....it didnt stop him he finished the car in his early 70s
The last ride we took in it we went well over 100 mph.
He left me this car with only 500 miles on the build.
This is the first year I could drive it....just too hard.

Great story ,But a bit sad.:(
Thats cool that your dad was a car bulder That thing is GREAT !!:D :D

It's amazing what a hammer, some paint and a little crushed ice can do!:D

Great thing about memories, No one can change them, brake them or steel them, Their yours forever.

as long as you have memeries of your loved ones, they are always alive.

And my belief is you'll see your dad again, and when you do I'm sure he'll be proud of the way you took care the treasures he left you and the way you share your memeries of him with your children.

Now that I stopped balling, I can drink my coffee.

keep it shiny

A most excellent story about you and your Dad the experiences shared by a Father and son are pricelesss. Thank you for sharing your story with us when the next meet in Boscobel happens make plans to be there. The pics of this ride are very cool.

Thanks for the kind words
Boscobel would be fun the timing was bad for me this year.
He also left a 40 ford coupe.
I think my brother is going to take it to Denver the car just sits.

I don't, personally, see anything sad in it (just me). I think it's fantastic that you have that from your dad ... the skills to do something constructive, the fantastic memory and a tradition to pass on to you kid(s).

Nice story...
Thank you for sharing your story with us
