Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin went to Haiti with her family, Franklin Graham of Samaritan's Purse, and Fox News host Greta van Susteren.

But the media, not well known for being honest or objective where Sarah Palin is concerned, has stirred a controversy regarding the Governor's hair.

Michael Shaw of the Huffington Post penned this screed over - get this - Sarah Palin getting her hair straightened out while in Haiti.
If I find the fantastically clever Sarah Palin to be one of the shallowest and blatantly self-serving politicians, err, political celebrities I've ever seen, it doesn't stop me from taking pause upon seeing these AP shots from Franklin Graham's cholera treatment center in Haiti.
Damn right it's revolting seeing Sarah getting her hair made up like this field hospital is her movie set -- same as it's irksome seeing Sara and Greta Van Susteren wearing far-less-than-compassionate expressions and acting like looky-loos while being trailed by a video guy, Greta sporting a huge piece of gear herself.
But Shaw doesn't end there. He goes on to attack Palin for (gasp) washing her hands.
And then, the multiple shots of Sarah sanitizing and washing her hands suggests the former Gov is primarily concerned, above all humanitarian else, about catching something.
Will the former Governor ever be able to live this down? Imagine, the horror of washing one's hands while in an area known to be ridden with disease.
The UK Daily Mail also took a swipe at Palin for the same thing, using an AP photograph captioned as follows:
So long as she brings the cameras: Sarah Palin has her hair fixed during a visit to a cholera treatment center set up by the NGO Samaritan's Purse in Cabaret, Haiti, on Saturday
But, if these so-called journalists had done their job, they would have known the alleged "hair stylist" was none other than Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin's daughter.
The web site "Palingates" - a site dedicated to promoting smears and hatred of anything "Palin" shows the same photos and repeats the media-generated "scandal".
The holy mother of the North Star, does she look good or what
Photos at all three sites do show a young, white female fixing the hair on Palin's right side. No doubt, the writers at all three sites had access to all the photos, but the Daily Mail and Huffington Post apparently chose not to publish the one that would have blown their so-called "scandal" sky high.

A photograph posted at Palingates (also displayed at Free Republic) shows the very same female sitting next to Todd Palin. A close examination shows the young woman to be Bristol Palin, and, as 'Freeper' Kristinn notes at Free Republic:
The AP photographer who sent the caption would have known that it was Bristol Palin, but by not mentioning her the AP was able to do a media hit on Palin but still be able to claim they told the "truth" with the caption
But truth is irrelevant where Sarah Palin is concerned.

If the so-called "mainstream press" refuses to tell the truth about something as small and insignificant as this, how can they possibly be trusted when reporting anything else?

stop the presses, alert the media, hold the phones, this is ground breaking news....Sarah Palin is getting her hair touched up...must have been a slow news day. I think they should have been more concerned with the fact the the U.N. did such shoddy work with sewage removal that they have had the French blaming them for causing this outbreak.

It seems the media mostly ignored her self promoting povertyfest tour.

Well at least we know which side of the talking points influenced your thinking.

At least she didn't go around apologizing for America like O'Douchebag.

The American public has a short attention span and has grown tired of Haiti.
I gave money last year in the relief drive.
Palin is only the latest in a line of celebrities getting their mug taken there.
The natives stripped 95% of the vegetation on the island and burned it for firewood.
The American public doesn't want to look at hopelessly unsolvable problems even our own.

Regarding Haiti, I'm actually seeing a renewed interest in humanitarian outreach down there, it just takes a while to get everything organized, formalized, and to act on it. The cholera outbreak has put it back on the humanitarian radar.

Haiti is a hell hole.
It wasn't all that much better before the earthquake.

I don't presume to have a solution for that country.
15 years ago, I'd have said that foreign investment. Now, I don't think that's an economic reality. Most likely, it'll be a strong man of some kind.

Not to mention the benevolent UN spreading cholera down there.
