In anticipation of the one year anniversary of LVC.com I thought I would do a couple of polls for a certain lincoln vs a certain cadillac. I won't do a whole bunch, but I'll do a few. I saved the best for last. (Or what I figured what would be the most popular on this board. I actually did my own favorites first) The Mark VIII (especially 1st gen) seems to be the majority favorite on this forum, so I thought I'd hold that off til the very end.. anyway, time for the final battle:

The Mark VIII vs. The Eldorado

I took the time to find a front shot, a side shot, a rear shot and a dash shot of each model (thank you cardomain.com!) When you post in the poll, post for the one you like better overall, but in the text part of the post, break it down. I.e. which rear do you like better, which dash do you like better, what about it do you like better, etc.

I will post my take on this on a later post.

Hope participation is high...on this one at least if none of the others..

Have fun!

I have driven both models, and like them both, but the eldo has a torque steer problem, and I like the rear drive alot better. As far as the interiors, they are close but the mark pulled ahead in my mind. I like the way the eldo looks, but once again, went with the mark.

I'll buy another one once the 95 is paid off.

Well, that's the beauty of all of these polls I've set up, you're not choosing between good car and bad car, you're choosing which is the better between two very awesome cars! :) I voted for the Mark too. The caddy's styling is definitely more regal, and definitely less sporty. In this application, I went for the sporty. That's in the looks dept, in the functional dept, it was less of a contest. RWD will almost always win in my mind over FWD. :)

Not to be greedy but I want one of each!!!

The Eldo reminds me of the Mark VII with it's class style and preformance.

But the Mark VIII just out preforms the Eldo.

I have my eyes open for the right deal on the Caddy... I think it would lool great in my Used car lot drive way to have both the VIII and the Eldo. Neighbors will definitely think I'm out pimping. Yes I know Town Car Deville are more Pimp rides... even the Long boat Marks and Eldos of the 70's...But this is small town USA and all you need is a Lincoln or a Cadillac to be a pimp he LOL.

As for the used car lot... 1988 T-Bird, 1991 RS Camaro, 1993 Mark VIII, soon 1995 Mark VIII, and 2000 Mustang... All since June 11th 2004.... Prior to June 11th the street looked like 1995 Chevy Conversion van, 1994 Nissan Sentra...

Ok the pimping has been good LOL....

I don't know about the Mark VIII outperforming the Eldorado when models of equal years are compared. Also, I have to say that there are certainly more aesthetically pleasing photos of the Eldo out there ;-). Admittedly, however there is a wide array of "stuff" to add and change on the Mark, namely with performance, and that is a very pleasing idea.

However, when the top-of-the-line Eldo is compared with the Mark VIII (stock) I think the Eldorado is a bit better.

And, in my completely unbiased opinion, Eldorados are a bit more muscle-car like than Mark VIIIs, which is always nice.

My vote is for the Eldo, mainly because I own a pair

The torque steer in the Caddy is ridiculous, I would go so far as saying that it is unsafe to street race. I could hardly keep the car in the lane.
